WOW I AM IMPESSED!!!! The Happy Hook bait Shop has been open about 2 weeks They are located just west of west of Stockton on 32 just before you can turn to cross the dam. Thier inventorie is like a mini bass pro. Their prices are very reasonable. The inventory is well displayed. Hours are 5:00AM till Dark. In addition you are promised fresh ground coffee and a lounging area to spin fish tales. The restrooms are super clean!! I think I am most impressed by the CEDAR WOODWORK that Marty has done. Interesting info on line visability. I also have had issues wih fluoro on spinning reels. My thoughts on lake level is they have fixed generator and are using it without any inflow from rain/snow.???? Hopefully, warm rains without FLOODS.

I am currently stayiing at Stockton. Calyipso Cove RV park.. Over the last year I have lost 3 longtime fishing pards! Death, wifes health and pards health. I hate to fish alone. I have a knowledge of the west side near the dam, I have a 17,5 Lowe fishing machine which allows saftey on Stockton. With the 115 Suzuki we can reach any part of the lake in time. Fished 4 days last week and I could not even catch a fish on my graph. Walacrass is correct in saying go deep. Normally in August you can find the thermocline somewhere around 27 feet . Down by the dam maybe there was one at 60 feet and the fish were spread from top to bottom. When you drag minnows and nightcrawlers and don't get bit it's slow.

THANKS FOR THE CORRECTION WATERPOSSUM! The egret would barley make a meal for the eagle. The loons were a loot a couple of weeks ago. Thought it was the monster of the deep when they surfaced.

Zarra: We were on water at Aldrich at 8:00AM and couldn't buy a bite. 1keeper crappie from 8-3. YA SHOULDA BEEN HERE YESTERDAY.NICE WALLEYE.

Fished Aldrich area. The crappie had lockjaw. You could almost walk accross the lake on the boats. Saw an airborn bird fight between an Eagle and Egrete. The egrete dropped it's fairly large fish from about 200 feet up.

I saw vehicles driving across it at 1:00 P.M. today 3/11/2014. In addition the wind coming across that 37 degree water is dang co ld!

It is not a big deal to drive around them. The biggest problem I had was trying to get past a redneck parked sideways in front of the baricade protesting the government shutdown. Nor did I want to leave my" stuff" as the only one in the lot with him around. Crabtree Monday.

You can get to most of the corp ramps with little drive around the saw horse effort. But, with the thievery (gas, spare tires, catalytic converters) do you want your vehicle to be the only one in the parking lot? Monday was a beautiful day on Stockton with the fish cooperating, but we put in at old statepark cause we didn't want to be the only vehicle on Crabtree's parking lot. Tuesday both Statepark ramps were busy. So was the wind!!!!! hope this helps.
