We had 7 of us go Saturday. Fishing was good, everyone caught fish. I caught several 12=14 inch Browns. Saw a buddy pull his lure out a a big smallies mouth. It was a great day to be out we diddled too much on the upper end to stop and say hi to Gavin and crew. They had a great spot up from Derry berry hole!
  4. Gotta agree on Akers to Pulltite suggestion. We float that stretch several times a year and dont even take a pole.

    Joe's Flies

Nice. Wish I could have got out here today.
  6. Yeah I try not to make plans according to the weather persons (since the only really know 10 minutes out) weenies coming out of stl canceling are making my group small. Will keep an eye out for you and stop for a beer. Cheers!
  7. Holy cow! The weather man is changing the forecast in every up date. Looks like Sat. is the only float this weekend barring too much rain on Fri.
  8. Another good hike is the trail out of Devils well. It is a loop that goes to cave spring and back 4 or 5 miles I think. Hike out to the river is just over a mile and fairly flat.
  9. Great reports and pics. We will be taking a large group sat and sun. Baptist to Cedar for fishin, floatin and feastin. See all yall down there!
  10. Welcome back, Phil.
  11. The area proposed for elk restoration is nowhere near the trout waters. MDC is telling us they will not let them get that far. The first hunt for elk will be many years in the future.
  12. Hmm ...A highly federal regulated river , Current Vs a non regulated river, Big Piney.....
  13. This post needs one of these
  14. We Picked this stretch because I thought it would be too low for livery boats. I was partialy right as we only saw 4 rentals but Probably 20 privates not including my 7 vessels, still not too bad for a holiday Sat. There was one large group of over nighters with many solo canoes. The bump in water levels must have contributed to the large number of boats, we normally have this float to ourselves this time of year. It was a Chamber of Commerce day with low 80s a little breeze and not a cloud in the sky! Fishing was tough with the traffic, but we managed to have a pretty good day. We didnt fish past Parker Though. The water was up a little so we didnt have to get out once. My bride and canoe partner of 35 yrs is just getting the fishing bug and usually catches a few but was skunked this trip. I got caught the biggest fish this time. This is how my wife described the day. "Even though we have been down this stretch of the Current River many times, it unwrapped itself anew for us on this day."
  15. A Chain pickrel and a good sized one at that!
  16. yep I dont like it at all. You dont push someone in, you cast into their net and pull!
  17. It's called Happy pappys now. Dont know about the campground however you will get one heck of a cell hit there! There is a new tower there now. You can talk on your phone while fishing montauk.
  18. I'm with wrench on this one. LEOs do not even make the top 10 most dangerous jobs.
  19. We were there yesterday and it is too low imo. That being said I did it once at that level and had to walk every riffle and shutin for the 6 mile float. We were in an old metal boat, tho. Maybe with a plastic boat you wouldnt have to walk the whole way. Bet the fishing would be great. Hung out at the swimmin hole just up from the bridge all day water is crystal clear and warm.
  20. Welcome aboard!
  21. Hey, I sell carbon credits if you want to feel good about driving around in your suv. I also have a bridge over spring creek for sale.
  22. You first...
  23. Thought that was you. Thanks.
  24. There were at least a dozen boats of locals down stream and we had zero problems with them. Let me add that we floated with Elevenpoint canoe rental and was very satisfied. They had wennies that are similar to my disco 69s and in good shape. Saw Ryan out in the drift boat, I will have to give that a try sometime.
