  1. Are those gig hole in that canoe? I fished below parker on Friday afternoon. Caught 1 brown where that hackberry tree fell over. Also fished below cedar trying to catch that big dude down there but it wasnt interested in anything i had to throw. Got back into town in time for the 9" of snow.
  2. As of yesterday the road is clear. 1=2 inches of snow predicted for today. Heading down to CG now. Will give you a report later this afternoon.

  6. Nope Neither bill has passed or will anytime soon...
  7. my 2 cents on lights. When I staeted giggin we had a coleman lantern, it was hard to identify fish. We now use halo lights and can see very well and dont make any mistakes now.
  8. Looks like fun!
  9. If you hurry you can catch them. They will be between baptist and parker.
  10. Yep me and a buddy went down there today and there are alot of fols there already. we fished below Parker and didnt see any one and caught a few small brownies. There was a large group putting in at baptist or tan vat around noon.
  11. c'mon you really pull your phone out and act like you are calling..where I usually fish there is no cell service and everyone knows that. As said before there is plenty of money for enforcement it just needs to be used for that. My county of 15000 some odd folks(well not all are odd) has 2 MDC agents. While I spend a lot of time out I just do not see that many violations, but do seem to get checked alot.
  12. lol aint that the truth. here is an email I got from them. Greetings, I spoke with you on the phone today and directed you to the 36 CFR. The prohibition on chain saws is in our Superintendent's compendium and states: Section 2.1 Preservation of Natural , Cultural and Archeological Resources 1. Down and dead wood may be collected and used as firewood in campfires in campgrounds and backcountry area. No wood may be removed from the park. Down and dead wood may be gathered by hand only. The use of power saws or chain saws to aid in gathering is prohibited. the use of hand saws, axes or other types of non--motorized devices is allowed. Thats why this forum is great you get the info you need. We catch the park service telling un truths about the regs up here all the time but the Current is a different type of area than the buff. maybe we will see ya down there spring without my chain saw! Look at the size of that crawdad
  13. I always float camp with a fold up cot. I am too old to sleep on the ground! Chain saws are ok here on the Current, just can't use them after 11:00pm. I looked through the BNR site and did not see them mentioned at all, but the feds are good at hiding the "rules". I have only floated the BNR a few times and I am pretty sure the snags were not cut out with a bow saw.
  14. Sounds like a good list. I float year round and the only suggestion I can add is to bring a chain saw! We bring everything when we float and on winter floats I prefer going solo in our disco 69s. Have fun We will be out on the Courtois on new years day.
  15. I agree. It is a matter of priorites not a lack of funds.
  16. thanks
  17. Hey! This poll is rigged. It will not let you vote no. I pay plenty for a permit now. The MDC has plenty of funds to do their mission.
  18. Alcohol free gas is available in Missouri. I believe the State site has a list of stations that carry it. I know Hocker oil here in Salem has alcohol free ( hiway 32/72 east)
  19. I am going in the morning for a while, anybody else going to be there?
  20. Both... I am minutes from the river so I am down there a few times a week. May float Saturday. Supposed to be in the 60's.
  21. Hey folks, Just found this site today...Moved to Current river area 7 or so years ago from the St. Louis area. We spend alot of time (as my voice mail message states) either in,on or around the Current river. Had to move my family and business here because we always were down here . Looking forward to meeting some of y'all on the river (probably have already).
