  1. A business colleague of mine's five-year-old daughter has swelling on the brain and is in critical condition, please pray for her and thank you
  2. They now have combinations of high and low. Sometimes silent is best.....but when it's aggressive feeding time, I'll choose the loud low rattles
  3. I wouldn't go that far, looks like they had a good time. You can catch a lot more with conventional equipment .
  4. The last thing I would do after spending money on a boat, gas, food, sunscreen, etc. is to skimp on lures, especially with the factory hooks.
  5. Crazy, I guess Frogs landing would be a great choice now
  6. Disclaimer* let it be known that we did have PFD's on our daughters for the bulk of this float trip. to Whom it may concern
  7. Those fish up north are like freight trains when you hook up.
  8. I imagined it a little more like this............... https://youtu.be/ZPYz6AWxjGk
  9. Sounds like a real Kodak moment! ?
  10. Hey Hog Wally, I hear there's more riff raff and damage to cars at the Red Horse access?
  11. I think mono like McCoys would work fine without it. I really think it gives you an advantage with the fluorocarbon, because of the rough surface finish as compared to mono. That's why it's a little more important to cinch the knot slower and more deliberate with Fluorocarbon, to keep the friction from building up heat and weakening the knot.
  12. I've recently read that Reel Magic and WD 40 will penetrate and destroy the outer coating, causing a reduction in the strength of the line after a short period of time. Of corse, Reel Magic was designed for mono, because it was invented before the newer lines were invented. I've been using the Kevin Van Dams line conditioner for a while and really like it. It was specifically designed for the newer fluorocarbons and hybrids, as well as mono. It always seemed the line memory, and especially kinks in fluoro were the big problem, the kinks caused breakage in the line, especially after a birds nest. Lure and line conditioner is supposed to actually adhere to the outside surface of the line, and wont come off until its abraided. Just was wondering if you guys used this stuff and what are your experiences like?
  13. You see what's tied on in the first pic? ?
  14. Smalliebigs and I took our girls on a Father Daughter float trip yesterday. The Ned was perfect for the girls!
  15. Maybe that's the ticket for all 100% fluoros, using them as leader material only. Once they get kinked, by using them as a main line, (especially the smaller diameters) they seem to fail at a much higher rate than mono.
  16. I think much of it is just guys ribbing each other. But I agree there are some bad posts. I think it's easy to tell who's really pissed, and someone venting.
  17. Chief, you know, and I know, that it's the local population that are the biggest catcher/keepers/poachers on the rivers (not to be all Donald Trump on you). I was at Riddle Bridge many years ago. A conservation agent refused to check my license even when I showed it to him. His comment was "I know you're from St. Louis because I heard you talking to someone else. The locals are the ones we are after". We, as JoeD says are just afraid to say the words. But I certainly don't want to derail what has been an very good discussion on regulations. I'll admit, some of this is a little too complicated for my taste, but never the less, it's a great topic.
  18. Stupid or not, we can have all the greatest regs in town, as previously stated, but with no enforcement, it's a moot point. I turned in some dudes the other day to the MDC hotline who were putting sub legal smallmouth on a stringer. I called the MDC, the poor agent and his colleague had to enforce either 50 or 75 miles of river, honestly I can't remember which it was. Either way it was woefully inadequate. They Probably had to enforce the deer poaching as well, who knows.
  19. Cuz we can skin a buck, and we can run a trot line, and a country boy can survive.
  20. Update: After 3 fishing trips with this, I'm no longer going to use it anymore. Broke off on a fair sized large mouth while wading while using this. Also broke off on a hook set with the same spool. My fishing partner experienced the same results without me even mentioning what line I was using. Back to my Yozuri hybrid and never looking back. (Never say never?)
  21. I Did!

    What's Cooking?

I'm eating 2 Golden Double stuffed Oreos, they are unbelievably good
  23. I bought one like that the other day, that color sure looks good.
  24. I would think if you're one of the guys that uses braid with a fluorocarbon leader, you would hesitate to use the palomar on the lure, because it's a waste of a longer tag end and keeps shortening your leader substantially
