  1. Agreed
  2. Sounds like a good idea
  3. I'm with ya Jeremy, even with a lure keeps producing, I still mix it up. We're not fishing a tournament so who cares. Sometimes I just have to try something new.
  4. I'll be honost, I never use Roadrunners unless I'm fishing for whites...doesn't mean I can't be persuaded. Certain rivers have patterns that don't work as well with other rivers. But the way you are describing the way Ron fishes the bait is a method that can be used with a number of baits including crankbaits. A cast quartering downstream and letting it arc to the apex and reeling slowly straight upstream is a fantastic method for many types of fish including trout.
  5. I thought Biggie was "assassinated" in that East Coast -West Coast Rap rivalry crap?! That dude couldn't fit in a kayak if he tried!
  6. That's plenty of power....I think Gavin's right, the Arkie jigs don't come with great hooks, that's the first thing I'd check
  7. I assume you mean "Arkey" not Arco. I've never fished the Arkey detatched football head but I'ts supposed to be good for the shaky. What are your rod specs? and line?
  8. Just trying to get the visual out of my mind of the last little Pom shaking as the gator ate his buddies one by one!
  9. My buddy lost a huge brown at the boat a few weeks ago by your place. Was fishing huge streamers at first and got tired of stripping. Put on a Lucky Craft jerkbait and hooked a huge brown in the 20-25 lb range. He said it just came unhooked, no other explanation. He blames his rod being too limber.
  10. With marabou, I was taught to always strip the individual fibers from the main spine, I know this is just the opposite for the end of a wolly bugger. I think it gives a marabou jig a little more action. Also I stole an idea from Paul Jensen of Jensen jigs called a bou tube... you tear the tenticles off a gitzit tube and replace them by tying marabou strands on the hook before you insert the head in the tube. This is kind of halfway between a tube and a marabou jig. Both marabou jigs and Rons curly tail grubs probably catch more fish in streams than any other lures. The ultimate finesse baits! Now back to work for the week, Did you see Bubba Watsons shot in the sudden death play off at the Masters? He deserved to win after that one!
  11. This looks pretty cool, except I've only been in a kayak once in my life. Are they supposed to go downstream?
  12. I was thinking more of a Yorkshire Terrier emerger fly pattern
  13. Man, you need to get a smart phone, but watch out! I sent some pics with my phone and the GPS coordinates showed up with the fish pics to the recipient. Thank goodness it was Smalliebigs and not someone else.
  14. Well, call it a character flaw but I'm a trophy hunter. I do enjoy the total experience though. I can feel better about myself by also admitting the fact that I get just as much pleasure having my fishing partner catch a bigger one than me. I'm not one of these guys that care if my partner out fishes me, but I've seen many people get all tense if they can't catch anything. I still think Missouri has a ways to go in making it a great fishery though. I've been to many other places and have seen what we are missing.
  15. http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-TV/2012/04/07/Missouri-Authorities-In-Alligator-Roundup I wonder how many yahoos have already turned them loose?
  16. No doubt Charlie Brewer was kind of the grandfather of the do nothing worm, I love his stuff
  17. A big bass on topwater! Nothing better!
  18. That's his point, jets can't go thru
  19. Have always wondered if these will out produce rattles in 2-3 ft visability water.
  20. Got stung by a little yellow scorpion in Oklahoma when I was sixteen. It felt like someone was holding a match against my leg.
  21. Even the lower stretches of the Meramec you sometimes have water that's like that in the winter.
  22. That's what it looks like pretty much every time I go out on the river before I get to my fishing spot.
  23. The man with the technology and not afraid to use it!!
