  1. I agree with Ollie I realize you have to go when you can, but I learned from a couple of guys much better than me to stay off the river when it's falling rapidly, let it stabilize for a couple of days, then go. I don't know if that's the case for your river or not. Having said that, you can sometimes go out when the conditions seem perfect and have the same results as you had this weekend.
  2. Wow, that's awesome!!
  3. A little local knowledge always helps, if you can trust the source. But when planning a trip away from home, I can't take the risk on having enough time to "try different stuff until I find something that works---hopefully before I run out of time". Again, the source has to be credible and should be someone you have history with. I don't really go by the fishing reports either.
  4. Those guys are the perverts, weren't they the ones who protested at the funerals of fallen servicemen?
  5. I found a property on Tanycomo thats selling pretty cheap and wanted someone to go in with me.......You seem like a nice guy, do you want to go in together?
  6. That's great information! Thank you
  7. Al-I can't go until next year, with the little one it's tough. But if you wait until next June 1st I can go. The first of June is when I typically go. The fishing is unreal. They have more crayfish than any place I've seen; when I was backing the trailer in the water, 30 crayfish were darting everywhere. Use a crayfish crankbait or a tube and literally catch all you want.
  8. I guess it depends on what your definition of a great river means. The Meramec is a great river for big fish.
  9. Eric, You can do all these things without the lotto, just hook up with the right people!
  10. I can set you up on the Menominee
  11. Outdoors related........ 3. Play golf at the Royal and Ancient Golf Club at St. Andrews, Scotland (already played Pebble Beach) 2. Go Black Marlin fishing so I can act like Hemingway 1. Take my daughters fishing enough to get them hooked so they will have a fond fishing memory of their father pretty simple
  12. It's different everytime I go in, sometimes they are and sometimes they are on ice. The place is called "Seafood City" on Olive east of 170 by a couple of miles on the south side of the road.
  13. It's now called "water boarding".
  14. They have the asian silver carp, big head carp, and regular carp at the market in STL on Olive Street
  15. In St. Louis you can buy live carp at the Asian market. I'm sure Springfield has one.
  16. Don't worry, the ecosystem will be fine; I only have a 60/40 Merc. Don't you worry Mr. Cricket, I was only kidding about bringing a jet up that far.
  17. Man, that is one cool place!! I wonder if you can run a jet boat up that far? I've never fished more than a mile above Hazelgreen. Let me know what you find out.
  18. I've been hearing rumblings of a new technology that might be a solution to our gas fracking problems. It's a new method for drilling called "dry drilling" developed in Canada. Apparently most of the natural gas in Canada is deeper and more dense than in the US. This "dry drilling" extracts the gas without liquid, using only 100% nitrogen gas. This dry drilling method extracts up to 6 times more gas than conventional methods. In Oct 2010 Exxon Mobil signed a licensing deal with this company. Sounds like good news to me, but I don't want to jump the gun.
  19. Here's a great story about a group of my friends down in Poplar Bluff who have a food shelter for the poor and recent flood victims. These guys really have it together and are doing the Lord's work the way it should be done!
  20. He said after limited use, it starts splintering and becomes very stretchy. A bad combination.
  21. The guy behind the counter at Cabelas told me don't buy this X50 Fluorocarbon, just thought I would pass this on. It's $16.99 per spool.
  22. Saw your blog, Sorry about your finger! I did the exact same thing 3 years ago trying to play Iron Chef Morimoto in my kitchen. Hope your finger heels. If you cast with your right hand that won't be so bad.
  23. Cool Stuff thanks for posting! Hey Al, I have "Sunlight on Bronze" in my office, do you have any computer wallpaper shots?
  24. LOL, "I don't want this gittin around" .....Ned Beatty
