I always tie my minnow patterns with 3-4 materials. The hardest to find is good quality thin bucktail for the wing. The second is crosscut rabbit Palmered on the shank of the hook for the body, then a tail of either rabbit zonkers (not my favorite), Arctic Fox, or marabou. The last is some type of thin flash material. I usually tie it on a 1/16th to 1/8 oz jig head, sometimes I’ll go up to 1/4 Oz.
Ps. I think the bucktail wing is one of the most important parts...keeps the tail from bending 90 degrees in the fall.
