A buddy of mine and I made the trip down on Saturday and Sunday. The weather was incredbly warm for early December, which made conditions balmy, but a bit windy. The water is very low and the moss is everywhere...so we fought that in blue ribbon section all weekend. The fish were hard to find on Saturday, but we manged consistent enough action to be enterained throughout the day. No real stories our memorable fish...but a great day hanging in the river. The river was quite busy and most others reported tough conditions. Sunday most of the Saturday crowd had left and we had the place to ourselves. We hit the river and through streamers up until about noon. By buddy caught several fish and one really nice brown in the 18-19 inch range. I had one follow and turned an absolute giant, but couldn't not close the deal on either. After lunch we spent the final few hours in the park throwing dry flies. I caught a bunch during the midday hour, then it went silent. Tried a streamer again to close out the day and landed one more fish, but probaby had 20 short strikes. Interesting day for sure...probably one of the the few days where I caught fish on top, one on a streamer, but none nymphing. Oh well that how fishing goes. It was great to get out and always a bummer to come back home.

Your best bet to catch some fish this time of year are probably egg patterns and midges in the park . Maybe a streamer of some sort if you want to try for Brown's in the red ribbon section. Normal patterns like a prince nymph, pheasant tail, hare's ear will work. Mohair leeech is good fly that will take a few fish. You can park in Maramec Springs and just walk out the back end of the park to the red ribbon area if you want to explore a bit. Concentrate on the first few miles below the park down to Suicide. The fishing is challenging there this time of year...especially the red ribbon secton...so don't get discouraged...just have fun and enjoy it...you'll probably have the place mostly to yourself. Bring a dry change of clothes if it is cold out and it is your first time wading.

I think the Tide win it as well, but I am really hoping it is a close enteraining game. The Georgia vs. Bama game was awesome. Speaking of that Georgia should be in a BCS game. They are far better than Northern Illinois, Wisconsin, and Louisville.

Thank god there is no evidence of a breeding population.

Yep, all kinds of info still to come.

Dixon has transferred from MU as second allegations have been made dating back to 2010. Article is below. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/college/mizzou/dixon-transferring-from-mizzou/article_c2f9ab8c-95bc-5d6e-aae5-016aa58dbab3.html

Yep, saw that this morning. Here is an article from the KC Star. http://www.kansascity.com/2012/11/27/3936996/police-report-says-mus-dixon-accused.html On the radio this morning they were reading the police report. Based on the woman's own testimony, I am not sure what to believe.

I was talking about our region mostly since most posters live in the Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri area.

It is one year in which a lot went wrong. I am not convinced Pinkel is the answer and I wouldn't lose sleep if he was fired, but I suposse he deserves another shot. He did bring the program back from obscurity. I mean in the 90's no one even cared about Mizzou football. It has come along way. The thing that really bothers me is this team quit on Saturday. That was the most embarrasing game of the season and If I was coach I would have layed into them to set the tone for next year. They were outmatched, with no chance to win, but that was a pathetic effort. I wouldn't worry to much about a recruit changing his mind. It happens all the time...to every school. Gabbert decomitted from Nebraska and choose MU...Nebraska turned out fine and this kid is not close to that caliber of player. MU had a bad year. Next year will be a better gauge. We just had too many injury issues to overcome this year...Hard to blame the offense when they have no quarterback and for the love of god recruit someone who can snap the ball. A few plays either way this team is 8-4 or 4-8. Really really weird and frustrating year. .

Rumor has it dixon was caught cheating...possibly paying someone to do his work. Think he may be suspended until he makes up the work or until january. again just speculation, and just a guess, but it has to be academic related at this point.

Great report! 89 and going strong...good stuff.

Not a good year for football in the midwest MU stinks, KU stinks, Arkansas stinks, Chief's stink, Rams stink. That's a hole lotta stink for one region.
-
I have to agree. Just not consistent, too many injuries, and too many mistakes. For all that being said...we could have won 3 more games. Just one of those extremely frustrating years it seems.

If the standings are close my money will be on KState to get the shaft. They have to win out and so does Notre Dame(and a loss by KState or Oregon)...no queston about it. Oregon is probably in the best spot. Notre Dame probably in the worst spot. If every team has 1 loss it is probably Oregon and Alabama/Georgia winner(assuming both teams meet in SEC championship with only one loss each). If all three teams remain undefeated...It should be KState and Oregon, but ya never now what funny business might happen to get Notre Dame into the championship game.

Yep, that is what it looks like to me. -
A tale of teams last night. MU shot 23% in the first half and 58% in the second half. That first half was a bit tough to watch, but they just missed their shots. The potential is easy to see. Next week should be interesting, but I am cautiosuly optimistic. It will be a good gauge of were they are, but I wouldn't be too alarmed if they struggle next week. I think it is gonna take some time to get it into gear which is why I think they will be much better come tourney time.
-
I could see Oregon, Kansas State, and Notre Dame all lose down the stretch. So you have the winner of Alabama/Georgia as one spot and who else in the 2nd spot? Could be quite the mess for the 2nd spot.
-
I am pumped for basketball. MU has the talent and are much deeper than last year. It they can gel it could be something to watch. Haith's transfer class is being called the best in history...so that says something. If they bring it together on paper they are much better equipped for a deep tourney run this year. They were great last year, but they couldn't stop anyone on defense. That shouldn't be an issue this year. I think they will finish the regular season with 6-7 losses, but make a deep run come tourney time as they begin to gel.

At Least We Still Have Cheap Cigarettes

I'd say make those that make unhealthy healthcare decisions pay more in health insurance premiums. The kicker is it has to be a choice. I am not out to punish those that get ill by luck of the draw...only those that make an unhealthy choice. Simply put do what you want, but you pay for your unhealthy choices in higher premiums. I am tired of giving my money to peope who can't balance a budget and seem not to care. It is irresponsible and frightening that as a country we seem ok with that. -
Has The Urban Trout Stocking Started?

I am pretty sure it was your girls chasing after the ducks....I was right below them fishing by the cattails. Next time I say hello. Perfect day to be out and about enjoying the park. -
Yeah, they blew it again. Really really dissappointing. Franklin was air-mailing them all day. Those throws were brutal. On the bright side they only messed up one snap and had one field goal blocked.

I think I saw you yesterday (if it was yesterday at Forest Park)(reconized you from pics on the forum) I wasn't sure and didn't want to be creepy. It was a madhouse up there, but good times nonetheless. Good group of regulars up there shooting the bull. -

nicely done. -
This is how I look at it. I go to have fun...not to win money. Crime...I say casino's are pretty safe places. Try something and see what happens. I'd also agree though there is a sad element to them. It is awfully quiet most of the time. I do enjoy a good sports book in Vegas during March Madness. That is always entertaining

I second the stocking foot...much more comfortable than the boot foot for me. If the hike is short you can walk in them pretty easily...especially in the winter months. Easy to pack in as well. You want breathable for sure. Lot's of good options in that price range and you'll get lot's of opinions. The wader's below have lasted me 3 years so far and i have had no leaks. The reviews seem pretty good too. http://www.cabelas.c...ch-All Products I picked up the ultralight 2 boot from Cabela's as well....It works fine for the price. There are tons of good options out there. If you can wait until Christmas can you push it back another week and buy them after Christmas? Might be able to score a sweet deal on something after the holiday.
