  1. Very nice.
  2. Those are some nice fish. :goodjob If my memory serves me correct I think I saw you just below Baptist on Saturday morning. You were heading downstream as I was re-rigging in a riffle. You stopped to ask if i was heading downstream and said you didn't want to "low hole me." Thanks for that BTW. I think you saw an otter in the weeds as you were passing by. I ended up heading back upstream as I had to meet the rest of the gang for lunch. Anyway, I think that was you. All in all I spent Friday through Sunday messing around and hooked into some really nice fish. Sunday night I caught a bunch on huge Stimulator's and Caddisyflies. That was one of the best fishing nights I have ever had. It was so much fun I was 4 hours late leaving and getting home. After 3 full days on the water I am sore, very tired, and very depressed to be back at work. Anyway, thanks for sharing your report.
  3. Sounds like a great weekend. I was down Friday through Sunday. I too find myself gravitating toward the the faster water. There are a lot of fish in places you wouldn't think in the Blue Ribbon strecth. Glad you had a great trip. It was a great weekend to be out.
  4. 1)Fall is my favorite time to fish since I mostly fish for trout these days. The changing of the seasons on a crisp morning makes for an enjoyable day even if the fish are not behaving. Brown Trout begin to get active. 2)Winter - fishing in the snow, more solitude, Urban Trout progam (close to home trout fishing for me), and C/R season at the trout parks. Often very good trout fishing and it is often warmer in the water on those spring fed creeks. 3)Summer - active fish, longer days for fishing, hopper fishing, and low clear water for site fishing. 4)Spring - Fishing picks up for warm water species. Spawning bass and bluegill make for a great time on a fly rod. Nice to warm the bones after a cold winter. Streams begin to get crowded after the long winter.
  5. I am on LM bandwagon too. Great fish...congrats.
  6. I don't think Peacock bass are actually bass or members of the sunfish family. I don't remember what classfication they fall into, but I remember reading they were given that nickname to attract anglers. Regardless, what classification they fall into I still want to head south and catch one.
  7. I went down earlier this year with the water up at around 4 on the gauge and it stayed above 3.5 the entire weekend. The water was quite stained, but we did ok and it was certaintly fishable. I think you will be ok with it at 2.9.
  8. There are so many variables that can come into play that the best time to fish is whenever you can go (or your wife/parole officer let's you).
  9. Well done and nice pics! I am headig down Thursay night for 3 full days of fishing. This week is going way to sloooow.
  10. I would have no problems with that at all.
  11. I almost always stick to public water and public access so my opinion is probably not worth much, but it bugs me, that as many of these types of conversations we have had, I still don't know what is really legal and what is not. I'd rather not deal with it when I am trying to just go out and fish. The laws surrounding access and trespassing seem open to way to much interpretation. I spend the work week dealing with cr@p. I don't want to spend my day worrying if my left tire might be trespassing. I think in a situation such as this it is only ethical to post that it is private property and there are fees to park and launch your craft. It is not good business, IMO, to approach people after the fact, especially if there might be a gray area...which it sounds like might be the case. Be upfront and I have no issues otherwise my scamdar goes off.
  12. I'd take the Palin mom over the daughter as long as she doesn't use the words folksy or hockey mom.
  13. I know that feeling all to well. Just don't talk to highly of Arkansas they may want to come with you next time.
  14. Nothing like the inlaws to make you want to leave the house in a down pour. Judging from some other posts it looks like you might be able to get some fishing at a tailwater afterall. Good luck if you head out.
  15. looks like the back end of the main rain band is about to clear Bennett. Might be able to get some fishing in that way over the weekend.
  16. Good to see you had some luck. Sounds way better than my last trip. That midge looks great. Care to share a recipe?
  17. I see your point, I think, but mostly I just want to see if you can post 13 pages of you talking to you.
  18. I once caught a guy with a Mohawk in his Mohawk. His dad thought it was the funniest thing ever. He may still have that fly in his hair.
  19. Well done and great pics!
  20. Nice report and pics. Sounds like you had a great time!
  21. Sounds about right. Let's end the madness. We have a 3 day weekend with cooler than normal temps. Time for everyone to get out and fish their favorite water.
  22. The Cards are not spanking anyone these days.
  23. At the time of this post there are 152 replies and 2,652 views. That means 2,500 viewed this post without commenting give or take some multiple views by members. Regardless, that is a crap ton of people. That is going to increase the pressure.
  24. Sounds like you guys had a good trip. Concerning the smaller fish I read on Weavers the improvements made to the hatchery would result in smaller fish for a bit, but sounds like it will be back to "normal" before to long. Just out of curiousity how were the overall numbers? I may be able to make it down if you guys are going again during C/R.
