  1. Unfortunately, no sisters, no labrador, and no boats. I do need to get me a canoe/kayak soon.
  2. That is certainly good stuff.
  3. Yeah I think we all need the pattern to break, but looks like highs above 100 until Monday. I am starting to get bit worried if it continues much longer. Have fun at Branson/Table Rock.
  4. My mother-in-law is crazy about kids and we have actually talked about that. My fiance say on Sundays she has no problem taking the kids to see grandma!
  5. I have a pretty good gig in my fiance spends every Sunday with her mom. That pretty much gives me the whole day to fish....and she doesn't give me any grief. I usually take a weekend trip every 6 weeks or so and squeeze a few short evening trips during the week when I can. This has worked well so far...although she does say "you love fishing more than me." The only tension we have is when she wants to go out after I have been on the water all day. I have to explain that a whole day on the water can be tiring and when I get home I am pretty exhausted.
  6. I used to live close to Wilmore...never caught much of anything, but I was there once when they shocked it...there are some big bass. I woud fish Forest Park and Carondolet way before Wilmore, both fish much better. There are a few catfish in the smaller pond, but that is it...no real bass or sunfish present.
  7. It seem like most the of the time we want more enforcement and then complain about it when it actually happens? I don't know doesn't make much sense to me. I am glad they are making an effort.
  8. Red bluff was actually one that i had considered...hmmm. Is the area around Huzzah conversation area a popular float spot or have most of the floaters taken out already?
  9. Thanks for the info. I am looking to get above the drunk floaters if possible.
  10. Gonna be hitting these streams shorlty and was wondering what access sites would be best to wade fish from?
  11. Good luck and hope you have great time!
  12. I'd always wait until I actually felt the fish or I saw my line move off before I set the hook. If you are using a horny toad and the fish aren't busting on top try lettin it sink a bit and slowly swimming/twitching it back....works great for me in small ponds when the fish won't hit it on the surface. Only works with a horny toad and is best used in shallow water. Or you can carolina rig it as well.
  13. I don't have anything against Ethanol, but it doesn't really do much for me. It would have had me excited 30 years go, but not so much today. We have missed the boat so to speak. By the time we made it mainstream...which would probably take 20-30 years....other technologies would probabably show more promise. You need a lot more ethanol than gasoline to get the same results so there isn't that much cost difference between the two. Depending on how it is developed and how much more you of it you need it may not be all that much better for the environment. Once all factors are considered is it really worth all the infrastructure change, cost, and limited environmental benefits for something that is marginally better? There is a good chance that other thechnologies will likely be available by the time we could implement Ethanol that will be more effective. Let's find those technologies instead of a marginal one.
  14. Good luck and happy 40th! The water is a bit on the low side, but you should have a great time.
  15. Well this year has been very busy so last Saturday was my first trip to the Current since February. It had certainly been too long since I had done any trout fishing. It tuned out to be a great numbers day with some quality rainbows and a 4 brown's caught. There are a lot of rainbows from the park down to Baptist. The brown's were on the smaller side most likely from last years stock as they were all about 12 inches. I hooked several rainbows in the 18inch range. My buddy landed a brown in the 3 lb range. Overall this was the best numbers day I have ever had on the Current. I 'd say I was pushing 40-50 fish by days end. The vast majority of them came during the early morining hours and especially during the late evening. Early morning was pretty good for dries, but they needed to be small. The 4 brown's I caught came during the late morning and I caught them on a Caddis. The rest of the morning fish came on various small dries. The evening bite came on a few streamers and various nymph's, but the rainbow's went crazy for the eggs. I felt a little dirty fishing them, but the fish went crazy for them. I'd say I had a hit on every cast for at least an hour before dusk. There was no dry fly action that I could muster at dusk...that was a bit of a dissapointment after the morning bite. The highlight of the day was watching a giant doe (maybe pregnant, but I know next to nothing about deer) eat grass out of the bottom of the stream above Tan Vat. She must have ate and drank for about an hour. Didn't show too much fear of us as we fished our way down to within about 15 yards. As we got close I guess lunch caught up with her and she proceeded to look right at us, drop her butt into the stream, and relieve herself. Probably had to have been there, but it was funny as hell. All in all we had a great trip and I was exhausted by days end. We left home around 3am and didn't return until about midnight. I tried out a new route and MO-32 at night is not fun to drive....not sure I will do that drive at night again after a long day of fishing.
  16. Sounds like you guys had a great trip...well done.
  17. I think this guy is the master of holding out fish for the camera. Either that or he is the best fisherman ever. They are nice fish regardless. http://www.lakeforktexasfishingreports.com/BassPhotos.htm Nice smallie though....
  18. Hopefully the Brown Trout will have better survival and good to hear a few of you are catching some. Sounds like the MDC is more optimistic than me! OTF your right it will never be like the Current or Eleven Point and as Coldwater stated any habitat improvement would cost a fortune. The other isssue is the extreme changes in the water level. It can be bone dry and then completely blown out the next day. Both extremes cause the water to warm up too much. Those muddy bluffs are kinda ugly.
  19. I noticed the same thing a couple times last year regarding the water temperature....didn't feel to trouty. Has anyone caught any brown trout out of there the last couple years?
  20. I'd have no problem paying more for a fishing license or requiring people who keep legal game fish to pay extra. It gives people a choice to fish for fun or fish for dinner without unjustly hurting anyone. You want dinner you pay for it...just like anywhere else. It is the american way. And I don't think anyone seriously thought $100 would fly. I don't know what the number would be, but imagine what that extra money would do for habitat improvement and stream cleanup. The extra fee would be for all game species and not just smallmouth...keep it simple.
  21. Meramac can be a tough place to fish. There just isn't a lot of trout in the Meramac...especially with the severe flooding the last few years taking out about 33% of the the brown trout (which I have never caught on this river). Most rainbows I have caught in a day is 8 and some days zero. They can't go upstream into the park in low water because of the dam so it is possbile the warm weather and low water and have stressed/weakened the fish and actually pushed them downstream a bit. Wherever they are they are probably not feeling too good at the moment.
  22. I did something similiar to this when I quit.
  23. I quit August of 2009. It wasn't easy, but like others said my brain was into it, so I managed. Very happy I quit...my fiance's Uncle is dying from liver failure (drinking) and lung cancer (smoking). Let me tell you this is a brutal to way to go. Quit if you can.
  24. I'd say it was all your skill Mic. Either way good news for sure.
  25. I see makes a bit more sense now.
