north fork isn't "big water"

That is one thing I love about fishing on mondays. There is almost no one on the river.

I recently got a Denali rod used off another forum. I used it this weekend as a jerkbait rod but it would be great as a small crankbait rod. I had zero problems throwing lc 80 jerkbaits and the rod feels like it weighs nothing.

can do. I am off sunday and monday every week. The buffalo is harder to fish unless you do a overnighter because once the river gets low you can't go up much more than a mile without doing lots of work.

The wife and I did a overnighter from rush down to buffalo city yesterday/today. The weather was nice and warm(for February) and the water was stained-ish. We both caught fish within the first 30 minutes then NOTHING the rest of the day. No bites, no nothing. I fished a little after dark then again at dawn and nothing. We took down camp and took off down the river and we caught two at the same time. Mine was 16", wife's was 13.5". After that nothing. A front came in with some rain so we spent the last 8-10 miles motoring down only to stop a few times to fish. The camping was awesome.

I am forcing things to get started, we are going down the buffalo.

IMO the best time to do that would be now with the water low and wade.

The ramp was put in because the state had the money. It serves no other purpose.

You can get them for $25 free shipping at tackle warehouse and other places. I try to twitch it randomly then pause(twitch 3 times, then 4, then 2, etc). Sometimes I pause 1-2 sec, sometimes more. It seemed that the longer I left it sitting the better it worked. Considering the water was in the mid 40s the fishing was good. I cant WAIT to hit the buffalo this weekend.

I had to get out at the narrows three times going upriver with my 9.9. the water was cooooolllldddd monday. It has probably warmed up 5-10 degrees this week.

I personally believe CC is better, but I haven't fished the upper reaches of buffalo.

why would you think there are going to be less boats?

We will be floating the buffalo river sunday and monday. The water has been warming up alot and it is flowing great.

I was hoping to catch a shad kill. It appears I missed it.

I am taking the riverboat down from rush this weekend, it should be excellent fishing. We are obviously going to be camping at least one night. Lemme know if anyone wants to go. Canoe's/yaks are welcome. I will likely be using the trolling motor 90% of the time.

There is a bridge across creek. I hear they are planning a boat ramp.

Since I have started fishing out on the rivers I have not seen a single game warden. I have been out dozens of times too. White, buffalo, or eleven point.

Yep. Caught 8 of the 10 fish on it, then lost it Worth the $25 though. The fish were coming up from 10-15ft and smashing it. they are related to northern pike and muskie.
