  1. I am the complete opposite. I will be bass fishing until the end of october or beginning of november.
  2. I haven't found an argument FOR braid yet except for frog fishing. I can only see you needing it if you fish for money. However I am a firm believer in leaders.
  3. Any hints/tips/tricks? How did the flood effect the river?
  4. I was extremely happy. I tried the ferrying technique but every shoal was full of rocks or trees.
  5. I solo'd my 16' buffalo today and it was awesome. Floated in super skinny water, and the canoe handled pretty good.
  6. I built a removable swivel seat mount for the canoe on two of the braces. It was too dark to take a pic of it but I used two pieces of angle iron and a swivel+seat and made it so it fits tight. We took it down to the strawberry and tested it out and even though I was 4-5" higher than the stock seats I still felt as stable as I do in my yak. I could stand up fairly decently, and with the swivel seat I was able to turn around easily. I cant wait to try it out on the southfork tomorrow.
  7. you float bigger streams than me. There are three or four spots on the southfork that require you to carry your yak over. That being said, if a kayak can survive falling off my trailer at 70mph on the way to hammond camp then dragging 10ft on concrete wont hurt it.
  8. Good read. For decades people would catch them and throw them up on the bank. I love to fish for them, when I was a kid we would take heavy saltwater gear and spend the evening on the river.
  9. sssshhhhhhhh
  10. 4" grubs in either a pearl or watermelon color. watermelon tubes. cotton candy lizard
  11. your not going to catch a minnow with a cast net, they are too fast. try setting a light out. then maybe you can catch some.
  12. I am surprised your stuff wasnt tied down. Glad to know everyone was ok.
  13. the places I like to fish usually wont fit a drift boat.
  14. I am the same way, it isnt camping if there is no fire. Last august my wife and I camped on the eleven point(riverton to myrtle) and we had a campfire.
  15. thanks for the post al, great info. I cant wait to try it out.
  16. I seldom fish "flat water". Maybe I can find a coosa to try out.
  17. Punishing the responsible boaters instead of the idiots out after dark with no navigational lights makes no sense.
  18. I noticed that my buffalo canoe handles it far better than my yak.
  19. When I say tracking what I mean is when i come out of a shoal the back end of the boat will turn around because the keel catches the current
  20. I went to high school within sight of Lake Granbury in North Texas. It was lined with homes and canals and marinas and whatever for probably half the shoreline of the lake. We never had a problem with e.coli
  21. I was hoping you would say that
  22. I want to change 'yaks to a flatbottomed one. Nice and smooth on the bottom. my FS12 doesnt track work a crap in current. I didnt know how bad until I used my canoe last weekend.
  23. This febuary the wife and I camped on the buffalo river and the temp at night was in the 50s. never count out camping. I would leave the boat at home too, mainly because the boats on the white river are designed to run skinny water, and your lowe wont run as shallow. Check out www.rileystation.com for lodging/boat rentals. They have nice boats that are pretty cheap. I would suggest NOT fishing around norfork or the norfork river because all the browns will be small because they stocked a BUNCH of them this year.
  24. I have been extremely happy with my BPS johnny morris reels.
  25. I would go with bass pro combos too. No matter what you get, remember that your thumb is the best tool for braking.
