Ever wonder why offshore boats run 4 strokes? and have been running them for 20 years? Longevity, fuel economy, and dependability.
Why do I love my yamaha 4 strokes?? quiet, fuel efficient, dependable.
I absolutely love my yamaha 4 strokes. They are more complicated than a carbureted engines but I would not go back to anything except maybe a 3 hole yamaha.
I have only had experience with the yamaha setup. I haven't owned a mercury large enough to have oil injection, and the omc 40/50's I have had were blocked off, but I thought they injected into the intake?? It has been a long time.
forgot that I had a 115 that had the oil injection hooked up but I didn't trust it so I mixed the gas 100:1 to give it a little bit of a backup haha.
I agree. I have had a 40/28, 50, and a 90. all oil injected and all worked excellent.
While hooking the oil injection back up, get a set of reeds and remove the reed limiters. That will really wake up the motor.
100% agree. Reading the water is paramount to mimizing damage. "look for the V" when running upstream through a shoal, that is the deepest water in the shoal.
Setting it up right is the most important thing. put a straight edge along the bottom of the boat and line the leading edge of the foot up with it.
I highly suggest adding some carbon fiber reeds. The acceleration improvement is profound.
