  1. Best crawdad pattern for me is a crazydad in olive with the orange tipped olive rubber legs. I also replace the dubbing with palmered rabbit.
  2. I've rowed a Clacka Headhunter several times and it was really nice for the White River in Ar.
  3. Just don't leave your rod like that for very long or it will put a kink in your fly line.
  4. I remember wondering the same thing myself- with a headlamp you can track their little eyes all the way to the spider- don't do it if you have arachnophobia- those suckers are pretty much all over the ground.
  5. Spiders- put on a headlamp and go look closely at the ground where you see the eyes- mostly wolf spiders.
  6. i lost a 6wt bvk with a sage 4200 a while back.
  7. Only because I had just set it up. It'll look like the floor of a chicken coup within a week. Oh and- Thanks!
  8. Fair enough. I did just upgrade my tying desk...
  9. Dangit... I'm in.
  10. Dang it I wish Arkansas had big musky. I guess I'll have to settle for gar.
  11. I dont know if thats for pruett's fly or mine- but mine casts like a wind sock. 8wt will throw it about 30 feet.
  12. I tried a similar idea- http://flyinthesouth.blogspot.com/2013/02/at-vise.html Tied for bass- I decided the back hooks needs to be clipped- not the front. The bass tend to hit the head and then get hooked in the gill plate or face- which is not cool. Plus you need about a 10wt to cast the thing. I'm sure pike/musky are a totally different ballgame. Yours is cooler than mine.
  13. I don't want to start some pointless political debate... BUT- I think the people (like me) who are not fond of our current taxation are more concerned with non-infrastructure spending. You know- welfare, SSI/SSD, this new healthcare tax, government waste, excessive golfing etc. I'm fine with paying for police, fire, utilities and military. I respect the heck out of police, firemen and military.
  14. I am wondering the same things- apparently it will be sold by Krylon and will be in the same spray paint type cans. I feel like it could be good for hiking boots, waders and maybe rain jackets as long as it lets the fabric breath. I would really like to know if you could apply it to a car or boat to keep it clean all the time- like a super wax. Seems like a dry fly treated with this stuff would float like a cork right? -Watch for it to be licensed to RIO or Orvis and sold in tiny cans for $50.
  15. Doubt it. Although- no matter which way I go out of Little Rock, there is road construction. It seems like they are always working on the roads, but the roads always suck. Then again I just started paying taxes and I am probably bitter.
  16. http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-57590077-1/spill-a-lot-neverwets-ready-to-coat-your-gear/ Seems like this might have a ton of fly fishing applications. Fly line, dry flies, waders, rain jackets, cameras... other stuff. Apparently it is only 20 bucks.
  17. Did anyone else laugh a little at the video of the guy hitting himself in the eye while practice casting? Maybe it was just me... those pictures were sick though.
  18. Ya his was right on the end of his finger- which in my experience tends to be a spot that bleeds like crazy. The hook in my leg didn't bleed at all.
  19. I fished the blessings all the time when I was in school up there- never had a problem. I have been kicked off of The Creeks by a guy who said he was the owner. He was not a particularly nice guy- at least not to me.
  20. We have plenty down here in central AR if yall need some. I see about five every time I fish the Arkansas River. Big ones too.
  21. The last time I stuck a hook in me was right by the ramp on the Gunnison in CO. I think it was a hopper- anyway I was not about to go to the emergency room and miss a sweet float- cut the fly off- fished for a while- fish were going nuts so I forgot about it until I sat down- and, because it was through my pants and then into my thigh, I remembered really quickly. Wish I'd known about this trick then- I pushed it through and it sucked. Used the rope trick on my dad's finger and it worked pretty well- he did manage to bleed all over his own boat though.
  22. I too am a frequent visitor of golf course ponds. Black popper= all you need.
  23. I concur- water snake bites hurt- but they're so fun to catch and chase cousins, sisters and other kids with.
  24. Ticks in Arkansas are vicious this year. I got 3 the other day (while wearing waders no less) and my dog got at least 15.
  25. Got my Eagle- I learned a lot in scouts- not necessarily related to the outdoors. Mostly about how to deal with bullies at scout camp and how to eat dehydrated foods. I have a bunch of good friends that I made in scouts and, while I hated wearing that stupid uniform and wasting every Monday night, I would want to put my (hypothetical) future son in scouts if it weren't for all this PC junk they are doing right now. As for fishing- I learned that from my dad and grandpa- most of my scout leaders couldn't even steer a canoe.
