Here is a link to the Corps website that shows the forecast for the Kansas City region lakes. http://www.nwd-mr.usace.army.mil/rcc/nwk/lakepool.txt

According to today's COE estimate, by Thursday it is supposed to be 12 feet high but I doubt that takes into consideration today's rain.
-
How high will she go? Stockton was a little over 8 feet high before this monsoon.

Great job. Just when it should turn on we get cold temperatures and now a flash flood watch with the potential of several inches of rain. This could be a near duplicate of what happened last year. The fish move into spawn and the lake rises several feet. Maybe I should take up golf! 😁

I think I gave you some bad advice. I went down and put in at Ruark Bluff and headed up Sons Creek. Water temps were from 59 to 62. I couldn't find any crappie shallow. I really thought that the water would be warmer. I fished around there until about 1:00 pm and only had 3 fish. A 5 or 6 pound carp and 2 largemouth. One of the largemouth was a keeper (15 3/4 inches). I pulled out and headed to Orleans Trail. That's where I found the white bass and bass. Ended up catching somewhere between 50 and 60 fish. 20 or so largemouth, smallmouth, and 1 kentucky. One 11 inch crappie. The rest were white bass. Most of them caught on a silver & white Keitech, or a white 1/16th ounce grub. Pretty good day but also disappointing. I was really wanting to find some crappie.
-
I know last weekend they were catching them tight to rocky banks. I caught 2 while bass fishing. I would think the white bass spawn would be over but I don't fish for them specifically.
-
The crappie should be on the banks bigtime. If they aren't, they should be close. I would bring a bunch of minnows and use a bobber. Set it for 18 inches and work the banks. Depending on how many kids you have, you may be spending all your time taking fish off and putting minnows on! 😀

Good job Dutch. In my humble opinion, the ned is one amazing bait. I know some may scoff at it, but it sure produces for me. A couple of years ago I had a friend call me up to get some advice on what to throw. He had been invited to go with someone that used to fish Stockton a lot back in the 80's. I told him to throw the ned. His friend was throwing something that used to be a hot bait back when he fished Stockton. After my friend caught his 17th bass, the other guy broke down and asked for one. I guess he spent the rest of the trip catching fish and just shaking his head in disbelief.

Green pumpkin and green pumpkin orange.

I put in at Hawker and first went to Googer. After that I went up Sons Creek. I was looking, but never saw you Lifes2Short. I started fishing about 9:00 am and quit around 6:30 pm. I did pull out of Hawker around 4:00 and drove to Stockton for a bite and then put in at Orleans Trail. Glad I did. I had only caught 9 fish from 9:00 until 4. Caught 11 more from 4:00 until 6:30. Everything came on the ned except a white bass on a jerkbait. Probably the most vicious bite I've ever had on a jerkbait. All in all I had 20. Two of them were white bass, a channel cat and everything else were bass (smallmouth, spots, and largemouth.) Maybe even a meanmouth. Not one would keep except the 2 spots I caught since they only have to be 12 inches. I am really out of practice. I had more "swing and misses" than I care to admit. Also broke 4 off on the hookset. Me thinks I need to spool some new fluorocarbon. Near as I could tell, the best spots were on points in 5 to 12 feet of water. Water temps were 55.5 to 58.5.

First of all I want to give a big shout out to Lifes2Short, Dutch, Bassfisher, Jmontgo, etc. for not catching all of the bass in Stockton and leaving me 2 to catch. It would be nice though if you could provide GPS coordinates for those 2 fish (should have been 3, I missed one that was a solid bite) because it would cut down on gas usage and time! 😀 What a difference a year makes. On March 21, 2018 we caught like 49 bass with 15 being keepers. Water temps a year ago were 44 to 45. Light wind was out of the northwest. Yesterday the water temps were 45 to 46 with light winds out of the northeast? Seemed to vary depending on where you were at. Water was very clear. I fished from the dam to close to State Park. I hit many of the same spots as last year but couldn't find any fish, but many spots I sure was showing stuff on the graph. I got a total of 4 bites and landed 2 fish, a 14 7/8ths largemouth and a 14 inch smallmouth. The largemouth came on a phantom green rock crawler and the smallmouth on the ned. The other 2 bites were on the ned. It left me scratching my head wondering where are the fish?

On those piles that hold 99% keepers, we need GPS coordinates! 😁
-
I assume you were around Mutton or farther south? Curious what the water temperatures might be from State Park to the dam.

You're my hero! 🤩

Definitely the hat! How can a Santa Claus hat be anything but lucky? 😀

Walcrabass: Yes the trifecta means largemouth, smallmouth and kentuckies. Catching kentuckies isn't that rare for me. One's over 15 inches are. What I find interesting is that more and more, I'm pretty sure I'm catching meanmouth on a pretty consistent basis.

This was my first time on Stockton since last July. I had a couple of things going against me. First was a new hat. Wasn't broke in yet. New hats aren't lucky. Second was that the bass were probably mad at me for not fishing Stockton in about 6 months! 😀 Put in at 10:30 am at Orleans Trail and fished till sundown. Water temps hovered around 46 to 47 degrees. I fished between Orleans Trail and State Park Marina. Ended up with 15 bass with 4 keepers. I caught the trifecta. The largest bass was 18 inches. Also had a 17 incher. The other 2 keepers were just over 15 inches. Caught 1 bass on a jerk bait, 4 on the A-rig and everything else on the Ned. Secondary points with a fast drop seemed to be best. I had no idea where I would find them and I spent too much time looking too far back in the bigger creek arms. I found my fish from the main lake to about halfway back. Plus with the lake this low, the fish just aren't where I would normally find them at normal pool. It was a simply gorgeous day on Stockton.

I second what Jmontgo1246 says. Megabass 110 and 110+1 in pro blue. I tried the Rick Clung look-a-likes, but just believed the action was better with a Megabass. When the water temperature gets below 40 I struggle.

If we're fishing for polar bears, I'm going to need a bigger live well! 😀

Dutch: I used to fish Table Rock quite a bit back in the late 90's and early 2000's. Back then I had a PinPoint graph on the bow. Best graph I ever had. Wished they still made them. I could fish suspended fish and do well with a spoon or dropshot. On Table Rock the fish just seem to school more making finding them, and fishing them easier. I am still a strong believer that on Stockton the fish scatter in the summertime and you will find one here, and another one there. No rhyme or reason other than they are cruising looking for shad. On Table Rock they seem to gang up. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Weird how 2 lakes, close in proximity, both clear, both rocky, but they fish very different. For me anyways.

I beat the heat on Tuesday and still fished. I grabbed my fly rod and waders and went to Bennett Spings. I know it's like shooting fish in a rain barrel, but it was still fun. Standing in waist deep 50 degree water sure makes 93 degree days bearable. And the trout were biting what I was offering.

First trip to Stockton since back in May. Water temps were 89 to 90 around the dam area. 5 to 6 foot clarity. We mainly went down for some boating and swimming but I did take my son and a friend of his out for a couple of hours to see if we could catch something. Jacob and Ray are both in the Navy and came home for a visit. I hit 3 main lake points that I have caught fish off of in the past in the summertime. Only a few bites on each of them. My son Jacob caught 3 total bass and one was a keeper smallmouth. His friend Ray caught 2 short smallmouth. I caught a keeper largemouth, a short smallmouth and two rock bass. Everything caught was on the ned. I tried a texas rigged blue flake power worm but couldn't buy a bite on it. Fishing Stockton in July and August has always bumfuzzled me.

Thank you Dave for the update. You and your wife have been heavy on my mind. Praying that things go well from here on out.

Thanks for the report. Good job. When you say you fished deep water, define deep.
