There's about 30 houses on the upper lake that have water in them. Most of the homes are evaculated and the power has been shut off.

It was reported that a boat was pulling up to houses across from Fall Creek and a person or persons were trying to get in. The Water Patrol was called and they were caught.

Just be aware of strangers in these neighborhoods, especially at night.

Is it legal in MO to shoot looters? If it is, where do I apply for the job?

I would rather be fishin'.

Unfortunatley, these kind of events bring out the worst in a few people around. Back in March, people were looting stuff from flooded houses on the White River below Norfork. Also, there is an island where numerous boats and other items from peoples docks had washed up, people showed up and stole motors, gas tanks, and anything that could be loaded up and carried away in a boat. A friend of mine had the perfect word for these kind of people-scavengers!

Mo. has the new "Castle Law", if someone is in your house illegally and is threatening, you have the right to shoot if I interpret the law right. Before, they had to be visibly armed and your life had to be in danger. Of course, it has to be your castle, not someone elses.

All sorts of low-lifes swooped in to prey on people who were flooded on the Meramec recently. Con-man contractors, mainly. Many from out of state. Unbelievable, really.

Talk about kicking someone when they're down. People like that make me sick. When I see something like that my first thoughts are, I wish I could help, not I wonder what I can steal. Good luck and stay dry.

Unfortunately this is a common problem. Anytime a tornado, ice storm, disaster strikes you will have those who see a way to turn a profit, not turn someone's life back in the right direction. The local news is filled with stories of the elderly losing their retirement because a contractor skipped town with the $ and work was never started or never finished.
