I don't know what's messing my plans up more, the high water levels everywhere or the gas prices. :angry:

Yes, we are living in some interesting times, rising oil, coupled with rising food prices and an increasing unemployment rate, not to mention general economic hardships, there could be dark days ahead. My question;

how will this effect your recreation, travel and general well being...

I've been in a recession ever since I left home :=D:

Seriously though, I have been watching my driving. I still hope to fish Taney in the fall, if it becomes wadable by that time.

Yes it affects my travel some. I used to fish all the time but the 40 miles to and from the lake sucks with the gas prices. THAT is one reason I want to move to your area. At least the lakes are close and can fish someplace. Also, I was going to buy a new boat with a big motor. Now I am looking at maybe a 70 hp or smaller. Just enough to get up on plane.

I know all the pppl I talk to are not going this summer. Gas down here to 3.70 due to non use. Just to come to visit branson costs me $250 in gas alone. Then you have license and food and motels. To expensive. I can afford gas at any price but WONT afford it. I just cant see it. Makes me so mad.

I would like a house on the lake with a dock so I dont have to pull a boat but the recent posts about thefts has me spooked. At least I could walk down and sit on the dock in the evenings and fish some. I also love to scuba dive and so that area is nice for that too. Appreciate what you have. I could fish within 10 miles of there every day and catch fish.

I've been fishing less, asking permission more at ponds within a half hour or so. Maybe a LOZ trip in Sept., 3 days and camp, make the to/from gas get 3 fishing days.

we have been fishing at home almost every weekend. Last year we were able to go out and hit some lakes that were within 2 hours but not this year.

The economy seemed to turn a bit when the rebate checks hit, but things have really slowed down now. i think we will see a turnaround after the elections in November. People just want a change and something to feel good about.
