You know its not very ofter, that the Rock gives up her bounty without a squall. Today was one of those days. After Chain Sawing my way out of the driveway at 5 Am I fished the Knob to the tune of about 20 fish with lots of quality keepers, with Kendal and Kyle and had a Super time with two great guys.

Today was a double with the Williams outfit out of Cartage Mo. and it was something to remember 25 Keepers on the afternoon trip with over 40 fish, the top seller at 4.90 and lots of 3.5 to 4.5 blacks and Sj's. Crazy Stuff. Most on a Football Jig in about 22 ft. of water.

Best 5 on the Morning trip 16.5 lbs. Best 5 on the afternoon trip close to 20 lbs.

Never cauight a spawned out fish today. All were heavy with eggs and ready to do the deed. Most fish in the 22 to 26 ft. range, the old River bank

I watched at least a dozen boats fish a point in the Big Indian that I wanted to fish. I was waiting on my clients. All the boats sucked in close to the flooded timber, and fished in close. I knew they were screwing up. Fished the same point 30 ft. out from the timber and bushes and caught 15 keepers off the point that had just been absolutely hamnmered.

People don't understand Table Rock, or how to fish.

It's not just me. All the guides know how to ketch-em.

Why do people just think they have to fish the shoreline? I don't understand. The only thing the shore is there for is to hold the water in. It has nothing to do with the fishing.

Had a funny thing happen, on the way to the forum. Had a guy cut me off on a spot. This Dude, pulled in in front of me while we were working a bank in the Big Indian. He saw me, but wanted to fish in front. He was throwing a blade and threw about a 1/2 dozen times and turned to look at me. By this time, I was pretty close. He turned to throw a blade again, and bird-nested his bait caster. My clients burst out into laughter at his antics. I casted the jig about 30 yrds. form his bow, and tap, tap I busted a 3.5 smallie right under him.

He fingered us and blew out of sight. What a Num-Nuts.

Good Luck out there.

Good Luck on the Rock, it is as good as it gets.

YEah, but its a big lake and surely you dont have to be vulgar.I have been cut off before as I tend to fish in water off the bank aways looking for beds, but I have never made a scene or scoffed at apparent ineptitude.Poss they where catching fish in the brush too, or they havent seen the lake at such high levels and dont know where the gravel bank really is.Shucks the person you scorned may have been someone who would teach you a great lesson or become a fast friend.Heck it might have even been me, but not likely cause any really really good fisherman like me would never fish in the brush..........

had it happen many times, esp with tourney guys. If ur on their bank, u are in the way. I respect all fisherman I find on the water, until they disrespect me. Bill I applaude u for catching the fish under his boat. The only thing we can hope is that he will learn from the confrontation and not do it again, but we all know that most of the people that do this sort of thing will just turn around and do it to someone else next time.

Crappiefisherman, I understand ur thoughts but I have been in bills shoes way to many times to have much feelings for the disrespectfull angler.

Great report Bill, and love the medicine you gave that fool too!

I had similar results (yet not quite that good) 2 weeks ago when I was down on the rock. Everyone was fishing the banks and striking out! (everyone we saw) I held us in 30+ feet of water near the original bankline and landed some nice keeper smallies throughout the day.

-

Even here back home the local lake I fish is about 130 acres, and extremely clear (visibility 6-8 feet), with depths down to 60 feet. Whenever I go out, bank-beaters always cruise between me and the shoreline striking out. While I'm in 30+ feet of water, and they ask how I'm doing or where I'm catching 'em, I have no problem 'trying' to help them out and let them in on what I'm doing; but they do nothing about it?!!?!?! They keep working the bank.?????

-

They even tell me they see fish suspended on the fishfinder, in the 20-40 foot range, but they keep working the bank in the 5-10 foot range. I can't understand it?

Thanksagain on that report, days like those are GGGggrrreeaatt!

Crappie- why would you post this?? Bill contributes so much to this forum- for you and everybody else and you call him out on something like this? I think you better go back and read the post again. I think you read it wrong. Vulgar????

I'm very disappointed.

You are right on Mr. Lilley! Everyone knows there is not a nicer guy than Mr. Babler. Can't blame him for calling it like he sees it. Guys that think they own the lake and can cut people off and disrespect other people like that need to be taught a lesson. Way to go Mr. Babler... thats a win for the good guys!!! B)

P.S. Thanks for the great report Mr. Babler and congrats on the great day! I am going tomorrow, and I will be happy if I have 1/10th as good of a day as you had today. :D

I think the vulgar part would be the bank beater giving the one finger salute...but back to the fish...does the jig bite imply the suspended bite was off? Due to high skies/pressure/etc?

Thanks now and for all the past info and updates.
