DoveTail Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I have not floated down the river, but upstream from Bayclay is NRO. Some people get out there and a paved road leading to it. I believe they will also provide a shuttle service and/or drive your vehicle to a location you want so it will be there when your float trip ends.
Members catfish Posted June 10, 2008 Members Posted June 10, 2008 What is NRO? They are outfitters and canoe rental IF memory serves me right.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 11, 2008 Author Root Admin Posted June 11, 2008 Little nicer size- sorry.
DoveTail Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Nicer size on the outfitter, or the land location? They have a store on the property, cabins, etc. Much more at NRO than Barclay. Not sure it that was your question? I have driven in there one time coming out of Barclay. It would shorten up a float trip if someone was looking for a shorter option especially if they are stopping to fish, that may be an all day float from what I hear from Hwy 64 to NRO? Just paddling downstream and not stopping Barclay is easy.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 11, 2008 Author Root Admin Posted June 11, 2008 No- I reduced the map image size. Didn't realize it was so big. Thanks for the info- more the better.
oneshot Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 What is NRO? Here is Link to their site http://www.nrocanoe.com/ If you go on past them on that road it will take you to Barclay. And if your brave enough you can keep following it and it will take you to Lead Mine which is still on the river. I had a map around here some where that I got from the DNR years ago. oneshot
Ham Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 There is a take out below Barclay. I think it is Rendevous? Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
FishinCricket Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I have been working on this map as well, I will email it to you, Phil, as soon as I have completed it... I have floated the entire river from I-44 (wading with a canoe) to tunnell dam on lake niangua at one time or other.. Problem with marking the map is that the river changes with every flood... For these two maps I am working on (this one and the one for bennett) I am thinking of taking an image from google earth and putting it into a photoshop program or something.. Anybody out there better with this stuff than me? cricket.c21.com

The list of outfitters is pretty extensive, but here are a few... Mountain Creek (my personal favorite take out) NRO (as metioned) Sand Spring Resort Fort Bennett Ho-Humm Fort Niangua Resorts RedBeards Ranch One Eyed Willies The Public Accesses are: Moon Valley Bennett Springs Barclay Prosperine Blue Springs (Is this a public access?) Leadmine uhhh.... I am sure I am forgetting some of them.... cricket.c21.com
