Wow! I knew I should have stayed out of this topic, ......way too late now. I wish we had this many posts on drop shotting. I have way more frustration with that technique.

Taxidermist, I usually enjoy reading your posts, and I realize most of the folks here are venting some frustration. You might want to read post 18 by Captain Joe in regards to docks. Fisher people fish structure....a dock is structure. A dock is basically permission from whomever to extend your land onto the water. It is your dock, but the water in and around it is not yours. It is a great place to catch fish. Especially on LOZ. THe last tournament I fished with Tony French.....the bass came from next to a dock. THere are often people on docks who are great to visit with too. ON occassion I have seen great scenery on docks! Call me lazy if you want, but there are times and situations where I love to fish docks. If some unfriendly person was to come out and yell at me, them I will fish elsewhere (has never happened on Table Rock). Fishing is fun for me. I get enough aggravation at work.

Speaking of work, I would like to get more information on the video recording system you have for $400.00. I Have not been able to find anything that would work for us for under $7000.00. The wildlife cameras work fine for a few applications, but not what we need. We would like a DVR without cables and at least two water proof cameras. We also need color and night lenses with different zoom capabilities.

I don't really fish the docks themselves much. I guess its because I'm not very good at it, but I have never caught much directly off of a dock. However, there are alot of banks, points, and other structure and cover that we used to fish back in the day when it had no dock built over it. Then they build a dock over that spot. Then, as we did in the story in my previous post, we have no choice but to work around the dock. That night we weren't fishing the dock itself... That dock was built on a steep channel bank that we have caught fish on since I was barely old enough to fish. Then (and they have every right to, I guess) they come along and build a dock on it. When I know fish still use that spot, I sure aint giving up on fishing it just because someone built a dock over or next to it. Also, if a guy decided he flat-out wasn't going to fish near any docks, there wouldn't be too many places on TR that he could avoid them. They are everywhere now. The bottom line is... docks aren't the lazy mans way to fish... I don't really understand what you mean by that anyway, but... Docks are private structures that people built on public water. They are gonna be fished under and around, even if only by necessity. People own their docks and other people should stay off of them... people certainly shouldn't be messing with or stealing property off of them-- that's awful. But, I have had guys tell me I can't fish the public water near their dock... I would never mess with their dock or the property on it, but if I think there is fish under or near it-- I will fish for them.

P.S. Kevinkirk... I agree with most of the points on your post... but I, for one, am proud to be a "Hillbilly" and of my "Hillbilly" heritage. I know what you meant by calling someone a "hillbilly," but I don't use it as a derogatory term. My meaning for that word is much different.

"A-Rig? Thanks, but no thanks. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)

Its unbelievable that anyone could kill another person over a theft. I would be pissed off no doubt but I dont want to be someones GIRLFRIEND in prison. All the loose talk bout YOUR RIGHTS> You will see when you go to court and they lock you up for the rest of your life. The thief will get your boat and house too. THAT keeps whackos from shooting ppl over parking spots at Walmart. Some ppl are just that angry. Mad for being born. Hate to live next to anyone with this mindset.

THis isnt the old west, you are not Jim Lane and the baldknobbers dont ride free in the Ozarks today. WAKE up hillbilly.

Welcome to Ozark Anglers Forum. I look forward to you contributing in other ways after going to the trouble to join and not just through out insults about our geographical and historical lineage.

lazy? what if you are trolling past a dock in a seated posistion. is this also punishable by 12 gauge? Does any one offer a life vest that is also bullet proof?

Skeeter, I know it is tough to get your stuff stolen, and if you end up shooting someone, you will more than likely not be justified. At that time, you would be in prison and we don't like prison for multiple reasons (just to clean up the original post). There have been lots of great suggestions here for what you can do other than tote a shotgun after dark. People get mad, and people react, but that is something you and others would have to live with for the rest of your lives. I mean someone maybe a thief, but would you rob his mother of her son for that? Someone's father?

As William Monney (Clint) said in the movie Unforgiven, "It's a helluva thing killing man, take away all he's ever had, all he is ever gonna have."

I agree with Bill B...in that there is potential for this thread getting out of hand. Being the Moderator for this forum and the topic is under his watch he will close it and delete if necessary.just as he said.

Civility is the name of the game and public personal attacks or innuendo's certainly won't be tolerated. Let's go fishing.

The threat must be directed at a specific person, a general threat is just that general.

What lawyer do you consult with? I want to make sure I go not use that firm. Bomb threats (which can cause serious bodily harm like being SHOT) are made all the time, are not directed a specific people, and continue to be illegal. The last time I checked, all such threats (which many are called terriorist threats these days) are illegal.

When and IF someone gets shot, skeeter and his nam buddies will have many questions to answer and the lawyer bills will be mcuh more than a tank of gas.

As far as fishing docks.....I am not fishing docks. My line is in the water, which my fishing license allows me to do.

Maybe this topic needs to go away.

Skeeter,

I think we should all just get along too. Why don't you offer to take the thief skiing? When you catch him. If he doesn't have any skis I'm sure he could barefoot. It would be really exciting for him to ski at night it may be hard to see if he falls but I wouldn't worry about that. Just remember to mind the night speed limit............

Good luck and happy skiing.

Good luck and Good fishing

I'd like to thank the original poster of this thread for two reasons.

1) making me aware of the thefts occuring on table rock.

2) making me aware that I will be shot fishing at night.

I will no longer fish table rock after sunset, or attend any of the night tournaments on table rock lake.

How do I deal with those who ignore the 50 yard encroachment rule?......I show them just how accurate I am with a crank bait! rtj4bb.gif
