S&M,

I am sad to hear that, because of this, you are giving up night fishing. I love to night fish. I prefer night fishing to day fishing anytime. It is more relaxing and, to me, just plain more fun in general. I will never stop night fishing.

I would like to know one thing... I would like to know where Skeeter's dock is located so I can steer clear. I guess what I'll do from now on at night when I move in the vacinity of a dock is speak out. To let someone who may be there know that I'm only fishing and not trying to vandalize or steal anything. Alarm to them, so to speak, so they don't think I'm a bad guy and trying to sneak up or something. Maybe say "Don't Shoot, I'm just fishing," or something like that. It is a shame that it has to come to that I guess, but I am sure not going to quit night fishing-- thats for sure.

Woo-wee... whatta topic! Here where I live we're having a rash outbreak of thefts and vandalism as well. I am fortunate not to be a victim as of yet. But it is getting peoples dander up for sure. A lot of sensitivity these days and it is understood.....

I do have a question regarding game camera usage though(since it seemed the best short term solution). Are they not based on motion detection? And if so, would not the rocking of a dock and/or the wave motion of the lake possibly eat up image space right quick?

Keep the line fresh and the hooks sharp ya'll!

I have been chuckling at this thread but to be honost. As a dock owner myself I have learned things the hard way. I basically strip my boat down to nothing but wires and lock everything up. Its a pain in the arse but the six signs surrounding my dock saying stay the hell away just doesnt work. I make it as difficult as I can to even board the dock and nail shut and rope off all accesses to the dock.

In reality, even with the half dozen padlocks and the deterences, if somebody really wanted to steal or vandalize they are gonna. Nothing can protect your lock boxes from sledge hammers and crowbars. Thats why I carry all my fishing gear to the garage and keep it locked. At least the garage has motion lights and a big red Dog sleeping under the carport. I only keep my boat gear locked up on the dock. Another pain in the arse but it is the world we live in.

If I had a big fancy $50k bass boat you can bet your sweet bum that I would keep it in my driveway! Not my dock.

As far as shooting someone over gas? I might have fun unloading my AR under thier feet, but I wouldnt kill over gas. Break into my house while I am asleep? Then we are talking dead thief!

I'm back. Gentelmen, thank you so much for keeping Ozark Anglers the quality informative site that it is.

Kirk, I asked you politely to remove your negitive remarks and you refused. It has been removed. Please feel free to post in the future and we look forward to hearing your thoughts in a positive non-abusive manner.

Dano, Phil and Myself thank everyone that participates in this fourm. It is a brotherhood of shared information.

At this time, I feel this thread has just about ran its course, as Dano said lets go fishin, and talk about the great resource we have in the Arkansas and Missouri Ozarks.

Jump in here and let's find some fish.

Good Luck

Kev,

Dont let all this discourage you. If You lock things up and take care, dock ownership is a sinch. Just be vigalent and make sure you have your dock included in you home insurance. Anything on your dock will be protected that way. All the little stuff is just a risk but it isnt nothing to be too paranoid about. It dont hurt to have a well trained dog and maybe some motion lights. My dog is savage! And she has no problem with barking at anything!

Hey Bill!

When do I get included with you, Phil, and Dano as the brotherhood? Haha, I share almost everything as well! When people talk about Lower Taney they always mention my name.

I am the only OAF member that has more than 2 stars that isnt a contributor, admin, or a moderator. I am ranked 4th with posts, 2nd with profile views, and lets not forget that I have only been a member for less than 9 months! To say I am not a brother is like saying I am not a white guy! Haha

To all the white guys that are members, dont be offended. I cant tell the difference between you all! Haha You all look alike to me! I cant even tell who I am in the mirror!
