conman Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Not to mention heart stopping thrill of throwing a frog or a weedless fluke back up into the mat or lilly pads and the feel of your heart in your throat as that bait nears an opening... BAM!!! Those who don't do it just don't get it.
Bill P Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Them next to the boat, top-water 'attacks' darn near gave me several heart attacks while musky fishing. I like em all, especially the ones that really feel like you're hung-up....then it moves! The ones that go 'whump---whump,instead of wiggle-wiggle. The ones that you KNOW are bigguns.
Members tkite Posted July 10, 2008 Members Posted July 10, 2008 Had my favorite all time bite this spring at Lake of the Ozarks . I got up between two docks and had the nose of the boat just off the bank. My buddy and I were each flipping the walkway of the seperate docks. I flipped up by the first concrrete block coming off land with an eakins jig. I never felt a bite just watched my line start going down the walkway towards the dock. I reeled up the slack till I felt him and then laid into him. When I set the hook I jerked his head back looking straight at me . Soon as i jerked i knew it was a solid fish and it was a nice 5 pounder . Heard my buddy say i got the net and i fought him in. He said he was looking the other way but could tell from thesound the hookset made it was a good fish .
Gone Fishing Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 There is something about pitching into heavy cover and watching your line send a wave from the water up to your pole. It does not matter how big the fish is. Even a 12 incher feels like a wall hanger on the hook set in close quarters.
focused fishing Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Gotta Agree with tkite, my favorite by far is no bite you just see your line swimming away from the cover you you just pitched a jig to, plenty of time to reel down and set the hook. Plus, chances are there is another fish in the same spot the firt one was trying to get away from.
