denjac Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I was impressed with Palins speech last night. She can stand on her own two feet and go toe to toe with them. Shes a breath of fresh air, just what we needed. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. bigredbirdfan Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Did you see the shock from all the networks when they were referred to flat out as "left wing media" and best part they couldn't avoid it because of equal time requirments. Everything else I heard last night was "conservative change." Very encouraging talk after a congress that has done nothing for the American People since elected to the majority (incluing gas price their biggest promise) with approval rating worse than a president (who has been bashed 24-7 for eight years by that very "left wing media")
trout fanatic Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Dano is right. It was a great speech and I give kudos to the speech writer. Obama is also a tremendous speaker-but them ain't his words comin out of his mouth. They are telling us what they think we want to hear and we clap.

I haven't even thought that about Obama. Granted every word is not written by them, but they are the background behind the words, they rehearse them, change them, speak them and provide impromtu when they need it. Very much THEIR speeches.
hoglaw Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I believe that if you examine his positions, Obama is in favor of shuffeling No moreso than Palin or any other politician. She was for the "bridge to nowhere" before she was against it, though Alaska kept the money. I thought her speech was pretty entertaining, though that accent is tough for me to swallow. I realize it may not be so bad for you Missouri folks . I'm not sure if anyone has posted this or not because I'm not taking the time to read this whole thread, but I find it somewhat amusing that her one run-in with the law appears to have been a fishing without a license ticket. Personally I think mistakes happen and it's not that big of a deal for someone who lets their regular license lapse accidentally, but I know a few of you on here practically advocate prison sentences for all game and fish violations, yet you are awfully supportive of this lady.

Fishhand Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Jim Jeremiah Wright,I believe is a hate monger-the attached is verifiable proof. My question for Obama would be why did it take twenty years to distance yourself from this racist? Attachment: Wright married Barack and his wife Michelle. He baptizes Barack’s two daughters and has been Obama’s pastor for more than twenty years. He is even credited in Barack’s book, The Audacity of Hope, and the title actually came from one of Wright’s sermons. I have tried to gather and compile some of the more inflammatory remarks from Wright below. If I have missed any of his most outrageous rants then please feel free to drop a comment with it below. All Quotes Attributed to Pastor Jeremiah Wright “We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye.” “We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America’s chickens are coming home to roost.” (Sep 2001) “The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing ‘God Bless America.’ No, no, no, God darn America, that’s in the Bible for killing innocent people. God darn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God darn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme.” (2003) “In the 21st century, white America got a wake-up call after 9/11/01. White America and the western world came to realize that people of color had not gone away, faded into the woodwork or just ‘disappeared’ as the Great White West kept on its merry way of ignoring black concerns.” (magazine article) “Racism is how this country was founded and how this country is still run!…We [in the U.S.] believe in white supremacy and black inferiority and believe it more than we believe in God.” (sermon) “Barack knows what it means living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people. Hillary would never know that. Hillary ain’t never been called a nigger. Hillary has never had a people defined as a non-person.” “Hillary is married to Bill, and Bill has been good to us. No he ain’t! Bill did us, just like he did Monica Lewinsky. He was riding dirty.” (sermon) “The Israelis have illegally occupied Palestinian territories for over 40 years now. Divestment has now hit the table again as a strategy to wake the business community and wake up Americans concerning the injustice and the racism under which the Palestinians have lived because of Zionism.” Hey McCloud, Sorry it took so long to reply, I didn't have access to the interweb last night. First, I'ld like for you to read Obama's statement regarding his relationship with Jeremiah Wright....http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/03/on_my_faith_and_my_church.html I know he's a politician, but, I take him at his word. The laundry list of statements from Jeremiah Wright read back to back sound horrible, and, they are horrible but, I think they may portray the man unfairly in context to the whole sermon (in the "God darn America" instance). I'ld never heard of Jeremiah Wright before Barack's candicacy. When I heard of these statements made by Wright, I "youtubed" the statements and tried to listen to his whole sermon (I watched this stuff back in March, so, my recollection may be a little off or I may be a little off because I try to put myself in other's shoes and view things from their vantages...advantages and / or disadvantages...). What I took from his sermon was that the sermon was about the misdirection of governmental power and the lack of funding from governmental entities in regards to improving the urban environment. I think the Katrina incident kind of shined a light on the current administration's regard to some within the African American community. The people of Chicago probably witnessed the same thing firsthand. I think Wright is way off base to use his position as a pastor to talk about the Government. He tries to tie it in with "that's in the Bible", but, I think it was wrong. His use of descriptive terms were unfortunate and I think he needs a stylist.... If Obama had not cut ties with the Trinity United Church, I would have a big problem with it. As it stands, I put this topic in the Obama's Skeleton Closet file.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 4, 2008 Root Admin Posted September 4, 2008 Jim- is that statement written by Obama? Strange statement. He switches from first person to second person and back to first all in the same paragraph. I'm sorry but I have a real problem with his relationship with his pastor. Actions speak louder than words. For him to stay in a chuch for as long as he did with this kind of leadership speaks volumes. I don't pretend to try to sway you or anyone else from changing your vote. Ultimately, most of us vote on the party and their issues and stances, not the person him (or her) self. I will vote republican most of the time because of their conservative stance. At times, I have to bite my lip (Dole in 1996).
Danoinark Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Sarha the "Barracuda" is what we need in 2008 to run against (she klinton) That's Clinton. Maybe you didn't read the disclaimer. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
