It is a shame that a tournament director has to try and teach lessons people should have learned from their Mom, Dad or kindergarten teacher. No matter what you do, you are representing something. When I fish out of my Skeeter, I represent Skeeter fishermen. When I fish a tournament I represent tournament fishermen. When I ride my motorcycle........well you get the idea.

We had the same issue on Thursday last week of people cutting us off. I saw quite a few boats roar up to a point, fish for a few minutes and roar off to the next point. I am not sure how to fish that way, but it was very popular last week. We didn't do all that well on the points anyway.

We also seem to have this post about rude folks every few months. I wish it was against the law to be stoopid or rude. I would probably have a long criminal record though. For stoopid , not rude I hope.

As the old saying goes ya can't fix stupid, hopefully the attention drawn will cause us all to think before we act,God help us if we had to have IQ's equal to our outboards horsepower...... ha

To have a true friend is wonderful, to have a true friend who fishes with you....... priceless

A little over 28lbs won the tournament. We had just shy of 22lbs and took 12th place. We weren't on the fish by no means but found a way to catch a limit both days. We thought we were doing the wrong thing because we didn't have any other fisherman around us either day of the tourny.

This is nothing new. This stuff has been going on since Tournaments started. Guy's that want to win so bad they will do anything to bring in the big bag. Some people have never had any ethics when it comes to fishing. You all should have fishe the James River area 15 years ago. I have seen a couple of cussing matches and a get your behind out of the boat and on the bank confrontations when I was fishing alot of tornaments. It's not the boat you drive that causes it. It's the person you are in every day life that causes it.

How many are cheating and staging fish on stringers around the lake early?

I don't think alot of this type of thing goes on, but I do know that some guys (who seem to be good guys before and after the tourney) get rude and obnoxious when it comes to competing for fishing spots and such. It is rediculous what some guys will do to catch fish sometimes. I try to only fish in tourneys where the tourney director and his staff don't put up with these kind of antics and will DQ guys who compete unethically in any way. This kind of policing is very hard to do, however, so sometimes you just have to do the best you can to be fair and ethical and you hope everybody else is doing the same.

I don't fish tablerock all that much, but if I did and someone asked me to move off of a point so he could fish it I would have a few choice words and actions to go along with them. I can't imagine with a big beautiful lake like that even asking such a B.S question. It also tells you the confidence they have in their abilities if the need that one fricken point. Thorns to this event and I would expect better behavior from people fishing out of what might be the finest equipment. As far as editing a post...maybe they should edit their behavior, sound more appropriate to me.

As opposed to asking to delete/edit the post; this sounds more like a great opportunity to go above and beyond, and set a good example.

It's a shame that those of us who have a grasp on 'the basics' (courtesy/manners) have to try and offset the actions of the idiots out there. :(

Bill,

I for one appreciate your comments, not that it points out a specific boat line but the general attitude of many, yes I said many, tournament anglers. Now knowing Bill that we both are tournament anglers we both have the same attitude, courtesy on the water is number one.

I was up at Cape Fair when the Champion derby let out. I was fogged in around the marina and started to idle around to the bluff when I heard someone running hard. I stuck my nose in the bank and waited only to see a white champ with either a father and son or guy and a small lady in the rear go flying by. If I had a number for the tournament director I would have called as is was one of the most stupid and dangerous moves I've seen in a while.

Sure you can run a gps track in the fog, but what about the other guys?

I spent the day being tracked by two champs and called it a day at 1:30 simply due to the actions of these guys. Although it was fun catching keepers in front of them.........

Sounds like some of the guides on White River. I have had that happen on the lake too. Someday someone will get hurt. Maybe its really time for the DNR and commison to make some rules on how close you are allowed to get to another boat?

I hate more rules but rude behavior is setting a bad example for the younger fishermen.
