Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 18, 2006 Root Admin Posted March 18, 2006 Don't get me on gambling and casinos... they destroy thousands of lives each year. They breed crime and violence. Yachts are only an inconvenience, dumber than dumb if they want to drive them up a small river but nothing campared to casinos. Plus - you think casinos will stop at Rockaway- if they get in? You'll have them at the Landing... then you'll have casinos and yachts. Think about it.
Bill Babler Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Truth be known, I believe thats what the Hilton is counting on down the road. Lets not get in a stew, It's not happened yet. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members midgemajik Posted March 19, 2006 Members Posted March 19, 2006 It's going to be fun watching a 35 foot boat get out of 2 feet of water. Besides, how do you turn a 35 foot boat around in a 30 foot wide channel? midgemajik
Members midgemajik Posted March 19, 2006 Members Posted March 19, 2006 There should be horsepower, size ,and speed limits in certain areas of Taneycomo. I personally would like three zones of the lake. The Catch/release, the "middle lake" , and the "lower lake". Let the experts and local people decide. midgemajik
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 It may get narrower and more shallow once big waves start knocking the gravel out of the banks. The lake is simply too narrow for boats creating big waves. There will be damage. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
crappiefisherman Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Guys come on.This is silly. No one in their right mind would run off shore power boats on taneycomo.I too saw the dummy with the twin outboard catamaran on the lake.He was causing quite a stir on a warm day.Way to fast for the lake for sure.He prolly didnt have enough time to put it in at tablerock.Bass pro will have boats and party barges for all to play with.I really doubt if the big boats will fly to good on little taneycomo. And if i was to buy a yaught or speed boat im sure t como wont be on my cruisin list.If you think big boats look funny on t como, you should see the trying to play on k dock.Oh and frenzel ill lay you 20 to 1 odds that youll have a better chance of seein a scarab on taneycomo then a casino. That is if we have any word in it anymore.Ill get off my stump and take a chill pill. Have a wonderful day all [ [
loo10 Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Are any of you honestly surprised????? As with most things, given enough time and people, they'll ruin a good thing. First, it was jet ski's popping up. Then,it's tournaments on as many weekends as can be arranged. (It's good for business if nuthin' else) Now it's going to be not one, but two, new big marinas. (As long as they satisfy the big money folks) Next, casinos. Why? 'Cause the high-rollers will demand it. And they'll tell us, it'll be good for us. I remember when Taney was a quiet, peaceful way to spend a day and catch some trout. Oh the times - they are a changin'! FRENZEL Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I'm just saying that as far as personal disturbance, a casino would be much less of a pain. No one forces anyone to go in or around them but there will be no escape from 5 foot swells of some bonehead weaving through 16 foot johnboats in his 30 footer with a deafening big block.(or 2). I'm not saying I really want a casino for any personal or political reason. I have customers EVERY night come in and ask why we don't have casinos where can I go to one. Contrary to what everyone believes these aren't criminals or drunken drug addicts spending thier kids diaper money but 9 out of 10 times it is an older (50-60) couple nicely dressed and mannered just looking to have some fun with the money that thier kids expect to inherit. With the big boats though it is not if but when they ruin a lake the size of Taney. Just for the record I doubt that I would ever really go though. snagged in outlet 3 Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I can't wait to get down there and test drive a couple. I don't want to buy it, just test drive it. First one to the top end of Bull Creek wins. My seven year old wants to drive one too. Snag.
