I just saw on our cable guide that the Stren Series Championship from Table Rock is broadcasting on Fox Sports Net on Sunday 1/3 at 10:00 a.m. and Wednesday 1/7 at 11:00 p.m.

-

I'm hoping it was the most recent event, but we'll have to see.

-

I was pretty jazzed up to see it coming on; thought some others may be interested. (fingers crossed it's the most recent event :D )

Fox Sports Net is different from Fox Sports Midwest? May be a stupid question? I have Dish.

Fox Sports Net is the title given to the network of the Fox Sports regional channels as a whole. In our area, we get only the one for our region "Fox Sports Midwest"... even if you have Dish. I have Dish and I get Fox Sports Midwest only. The Stren Series Championship was aired on Saturday on FSNMW and it was the most recent tourney (that took place in early November). It is too bad they didn't show more fishing action though... I don't care for the FLW TV coverage... they hype and talk too much and show too little fishing. Bassmasters coverage is far and away better, in my opinion, because they show more fishing and go more into the details of how they are catching them, types of locations, etc. Mark Zona and Tommy Sanders (Bassmasters) are way better hosts than those yahoos that they have on the FLW coverage also (in my opinion). Even though FLW coverage is sub-par, it was still interesting because they were at TR.

Thanks for the details Whack 'em. I wasn't sure how all that worked. :-)

But I will agree with you, the FLW coverage could be better; Zona and Sanders do a great job on the Bassmasters side.

Wacked, I could not agree with you more. The coverage was worse than terrible, and really not worth watching. I will guarantee they showed more on every other distination, than they did on TR. It was horrible.

What about the boat set-up segment??? That was probably the worst video I have ever seen period. Here is my trolling motor, here is my rodbox, here is my livewell. Hope this helps you all set up your bass boat. Just flat terrible.

The only decent part was the 4 or 5 buzzbait fish and that was it. All the videos, were extreme closeup of the fishermen and they had about as much to say as my TomCat.

I will never watch anything on the FLW again, it was so bad. Just a friggin commercial, with no content. In a 1 hour show, there was about 12 minutes max on the rock. Just flat worthless coverage, and a total waste of time.

Their Pro, segments are horrible, and to tell you the truth, I don't really think alot of their fishermen. I believe the Elite boys would kick their tails right off the lake.

Just seems like there is a huge step-up in the quality of not only the fishing coverage, but also the professionalism of the participants.

FLW, is kind of like the Branson Music scene, its where all the old preformers go to wait for retirement, and those that are not good enough to be anywhere else.

Let me tell you how I really feel!!!

I agree with you 100% on all counts Bill.

The coverage of the fishing is awful. All they do is show most of them setting the hook and reeling in the fish! They don't show how they are fishing or anything.

There is way too much commercialism. Plugging this and spoofing that, etc.

It also cracks me up how they will catch one and then they'll put the weight on the screen (example 4lb 2oz)... how do they know how much it weighed?? They don't... they're just guessing... and by looking at some of the fish they catch, they are way off in some cases. I noticed that it showed a list of the weights of the fish in one of the guy's livewell and he had a 1lb 0oz and a 1lb 2oz fish in there... BULL! If a fish weighed that light, it wouldn't make 15"!!! Even a skinny 15" fish runs a pound and a half at least. They are full of it.

I also think their weigh-ins (especially the FLW Cup Series) are a joke. They parade the boats to a convention center or something and back them all into a stage... then they all sit in their boats waiting for their turn to weigh. It doesn't make much sense to me to take these fish on such a ride away from the lake. I don't think that is very ethical or good for the fish. They should just weigh the fish lake-side (like the Bassmasters) and get them back into the lake as quickly as possible-- instead of making such a show of it.

I laughed about the "boat set-up" segment as well... ... we put our tackle in the tackle storage boxes... and we put our rods in the rod box... and look at this livewell... it is aereated and it helps keep the fish alive... REALLY! NO KIDDING? :P

I agree with you on the quality of the fishermen also... There are some good fishermen, but they don't hold a candle to the Bassmasters... the Bassmaster Elite boys (top to bottom of the field) can just flat out fish and are far and away the best in the World in my opinion.

I was all ready to see how those boys handled TR, and really didn't get to see squat. I was very disappointed.

It was actually worse than what you think. I went to that weigh-in, not really my thing but my dad wanted to go so there I was. The boats are already there. I guess they use a copy of the boats that they fish in because the boats were backed up to the stage at least two hours before the weigh in started. Once they start all the "pros" come in carrying their fish in bags and dump them in the live wells. Once it's their turn they get the fish back out and put them back in a bag and carry them on stage. After they were weighed they were put in a holding tank. Who knows how long those fish were actually held out of the lake.

Oh well, I went, I saw and I wasn't impressed.
