Just For Fun, What Would You Like To See Different On Thr Eleven Point If Anything

Now that a new year is upon us, I just thought that I would ask for the sake of conversation what changes to the Eleven Point you would like to see in 2009, if any. It can be fishing, camping, floating or anything you would like. This is just a conversation starter and meant to be fun. I was just curious, so fire away. I would like to see repairs to Turner South completed and the new boat ramp done, Whitten enlarged to relieve congestion on Saturdays, float camps completely repaired from last spring's flood and improved trials (ie the ozark trial and White's creek trail loop in the Irish Wilderness).

I second that...Me either. I have always chosen to go elsewhere because I've always heard/read that it has to be fished from a boat, the shuttles are long, and I have to pass over lots of good familiar water on my way there. Lame excuse I know, especially since I have one of every type of boat there is, short of an ocean liner and a scarrab.

I would like to see the Corps of Engineers to divert it 2 hours closer to me so I can spend more time on it.

The lack of Electric Campsites with shower/bathroom facilities has hampered most of my family vacations there, the women need those for camping. I can go without them.

A little more gravel placed just right for my camping trips (if you guys can get the river moved, add the gravel, ok?).

Wood always there by the end of July.

fishinwrench.....not true about having to fish from a boat!!! I prefer wading this river to fishing it from a boat or canoe!!! Have always floated to what looks like a good spot to wade, park the canoe or boat, get out and wade. Then have to pass some good spots downriver because I do not want to get stuck on the river after dark. The key to finding firewood after July is to get in the canoe and cross the river to look for it. Load the canoe up, and padddle back across. It is not easy, but all the easy wood is gone long before. As for outlawing jet boats, I used to feel that way also. Unfortunately, I have aged quite a bit since coming to this river and physically am having trouble getting in and out of the canoes. Along these lines, and back to Brian's original post, I would like to see fines for jet boats that do not slow down for canoe, kayak, and drift boat traffic. I would also like to see the McDowell access road and ramp improved!!! There is nothing wrong with the river....that is for sure!!!!

The McDowell access is something I did not think I would see, being that it is such a remote location. The gavel boat ramp appears to drop straight off at the water line after the spring floods. Have not been there in months though and have never put the drift boat in there. That would probably be the furthest down the list for the forest service to work on, because after Whitten they say improving Riverton is the third priority, as far as access points are concerned. At least that is how I understand it, I could be wrong. That one might be a tough sale considering the limited use it gets, but you never know until you inquire. You ought to call the forest service office in Doniphan to ask about it sometime.

My only pet peeve is jetboats that go up and down so much with the same people that pass you all day long when I am in a canoe. I hope our friend Snappy isn't like that with his new toy!!
