An open forum that they don't hold sounds like a real good start.

That depends on who is leading the forum. If it's an idiot then don't expect much. You have to have great leadership to do great things.

Sounds like they are already getting something accomplised with the big arm of government so the leadership must be ok.

I would join but fear increased scrunity from MDC if listed anywhere officially. I am sure more people fear the same. So most of you will probably have your wishes.

While most here seem to easily dismiss this man unfairly. He is a very qualified outdoorsman at a minimum equal to many of you here.

"Many" meaning a couple? Don't be too quick to judge.

I haven't dismissed LD... just pointed out the only thing that stands out in my mind on the guy. I'm sure he's written some good stuff (and been paid for it) but that doesn't automatically make him my outdoors advocate.

I do think accountability is wise. Conservation commission would be one- right?

For the most part, most if not all the MDC people I know personally are outstanding men. Sure you're going to have a few bad apples. Hopefully they'll be weeded out.

You can't say that I will have my wish when you don't know what my wishes are. By the way, I didn't dismiss him, I just don't like him. The only thing I offered is if you are going to join a group or an organization then you need to make sure that the leader is qualified to lead. And no, being a "very qualified outdoorsman" is not a qualification. I know lots of people that are better than me at fishing, but that doesn't make them qualified.

Larry may be fine for this, I don't know. I just don't like the way that he aired his dirty laundry with the News Leader as part of his recruiting. And no, I don't work for the News Leader, I don't buy it and I don't read it. To me it seemed very childish of him to do that. But I have had that opinion of him before.

What really baffles me is that you agree with him but still won't join his group. Where does this increased scrutiny from the MDC come from. I guess if you are doing no wrong then you have absolutely nothing to worry about. I don't.

Again, I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I'm just not sure I want to be part of his tactics. So go ahead, sign up.

I have typed responses a few times.....and deleted them. "If you don't have anything nice to say......"

That being stated........I have met him in person and would not p*ss down his throat if his guts were on fire!

After reading some of his comments I find the same o same o charges the MDC gets but no specifics. If someone has a charge to make do it with spedific facts not generalizations.

Also I had to laugh with one of his comments of agents stripping people of their licenses and keeping them from getting for 2 years????????

Was this in America. Only the judidial system can do that and it is not easy if an individual fights the case. In order for an agent to do what he suggests there must be evidence and substantial documentation.

With the several paragraphs that was written I saw nothing but generalizations.

I have never met the man. I believe he has a wildlife management degree. Which I certainly do not have. Any of you?

Checks and balances are a good thing. Right? The commission really doesn't qualify.

I believe specifics were given including the name of the agent MISSOURI DEPARTMENT ASSISTANT DIRECTOR TIM RIPPERGER(NOT AGENT). Maybe contacting him with questions about MDC erroring on hunting privilages could help you Thom. The Department of Revenue controls privileges to drive and MDC controls privileges of hunting and fishing and can therefore suspend/revoke them at any time.

Some people just believe that the government can do no wrong. They were probably brought up this way being told that anything contrary is unpatriotic. What a shame.

I was happy to see Al's post.

I posted this here not to defend or represent, etc. Just to inform that at least something is going on in a grass roots effort. I guess we will see where it goes. If anyone shows up at these forums let us know how they go.
