it's right here http://mdc.mo.gov/fish/sport/trout/angling.htm it's a bit confusing, but rubber legs and foam are not considered "soft plastic bait" ....they fall in the "any material" catagory. At least that is the way I enterpret it.

Thanks "fw". Since this is an official mdc website, I'll assume what I read is accurate. What I find is the same old loophole that we used years ago before the big controversy. I am buying back my fishing gear and headed to zone 3 in July.

I've got the same interpretation as FW...I think of soft plastic as the stuff they use to make rubber worms (Plastisol). Its alot softer than the silicone legs used in lots of flies and jig skirts...Cant see how you could attach a rubber grub to a hook with thread, the stuff is alot softer than silicone strands or round rubber. I've tried, thread cuts right through it. Cheers.

Oooh, I like that Jeremy. Looks fairly easy too. Only real questions are what mono did you use to tie the second hook on, and what hooks? I may have a box with some of those in it next time I'm down.

Braided line like Power Pro or Spider wire works great for that connection...its also a bit more flexible. Cheers.

On this pattern you don’t want it to be too loose. I’m using 25 pound mono. The hook has to be a 3xl and the hook style is TMC 5263. The thread to really secure the mono is Danville fly master 210. I like white so it doesn’t show through the rabbit, if you use rabbit for the body. I have some other ones tied up with rabbit, but I’m going to keep those to myself.

Randall, you coming down to fish during sowbug. I have to guide two out of the three days, but if you can stay a day later we’ll get out there and hook some browns. Hopefully that good luck will stay on our side. Great fish you caught that day. I’ll be at Blue Ribbons booth.

Accept the drift.....<>>><

I'm gonna try to make it down. I have an excuse to be in Springfield that week, so I'm gonna try to do some scheduling to make it work. I'll give you a holler a few days before and let you know what I'm planning.

I understand the rubber part, but can't agree that an articulated fly (not flies - singular, not plural) has MULTIPLE hook points. I would like to hear a real clarification on that before anybody just claims it as legal.

The dropper thing is about mutliple flies, this is not, it is not a short dropper, it is a hook TIED (the language used describing construction of A fly.) It is the same fly, so I would say it is not legal, but it's up to the guy writing the tickets I guess.

If they would ever fix the language to mean what they want it to mean, the sillier parts of argument would go away and we could all just know - a lengthy minimum between tandem flies would be nice.

It would be illegal in a fly only zone. The ruling would be for one single point hook. Cut one hook at the bend and it would be legal.
