shaker Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 I was sitting at the local coffee shop a couple days ago and the discussion got around to fly-fishing for crappie. A older fellow made the remark that he sure wished that he had some more trix-orenas, best flyrod lure he'd ever seen. He couldn't quite remember exactly what they looked like or how it was spelled, I get that it was a small flat spoon, single hook with either a small spinner or a couple of blades on the tail end and that he put a pork flystrip on that. I've been looking around for it and can't find it. I did have a spoon made by Hildbrant that is close but wasn't quite right, by him. Does any know of such a lure or have a picture of it, if I can get my hands on one he's going fly fishing again, I hope at least he won't have any excuses!

shaker Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 Wow that was a fast answer I don't think that he needs one that bad. Thanks for the info and web site, with the weather the way it is for the rest of the week I may try to make a simpler one just to see how well it would work. Thanks again!
Terry Beeson Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Doesn't look like anything I'd put on the end of a fly line leader or tippet. Unless you're just jigging it off the end of the rod. OR you just WANT to hit yourself in the back of the head... shaker Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 I'm with you guys looks like bait casting gear to me, there will be some more discussion about this I want to see the fly rod he was using, maybe his idea and my idea of a fly rod is two different things.
Members crappie crippler Posted March 25, 2009 Members Posted March 25, 2009 What you are looking for is a South Bend Trix Oreno. They range in sizes and colors from about 1" to 6". Type in Trix Oreno on eBay. Usually many of them and they are fairly cheap. I have a case of them in the shop from the 1970's. Will try to find them and give you a holler. I think these are 1 1/2" red/gold. I LOVE THE SMELL OF FRESH GOGGLE EYE IN THE MORNING!
jdmidwest Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Buy all of them and sell them on Ebay. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
