I have a spot I call "Techo's Place" because he shared it with me and I don't go by it with out giving a shot..

Well if you ever at that place and snag a Falcon Lowrider with black tape around the handle and a Pflueger President reel (never casted).....would you mind giving me a call? ;)

My dad grew up in Seymour, and they were pretty poor back then. When he was a teenager (say about 1926-27) his older brother had been to the War and back, married, and had a Model T Ford. A couple of times a year my dad, his brother, and sister-in-law would cram themselves along with all the fishing and camping gear into that "T" and go camping for a few days. Dad said they had stuff tied all over it, to the hood, bumpers, and running boards, and it took most of a day to get there on dirt roads.

They camped where Swan Creek runs into White River, what we call Shadow Rock now. Dad said that was a big deep hole of water under the rock, and they always had it to themselves and caught lots of fish with their primitive gear. They called it "The Glory Hole".

Shadow Rock isn't way out in the country now, it's on the edge of Forsyth, all built up with a park and everything, and there isn't much water in that hole anymore. I transferred the name, though - our new "Glory Hole" isn't too far from there, it's a 20-foot spot on a steep chunk rock bank below K Dock where my partner and I caught 16 bass over 3 lbs. and up to 5 1/2 lbs. in about an hour one night, just before we got caught out in a big thunderstorm. The Glory Hole is always worth a visit when I'm there, and quite often we'll catch another bass or two out of it.

I thought it would be fun to give the nicknames of our secret, favorite spot. No need to tell where they are, unless you want to. ;) Might get interesting with some of the names.

On of mine: Never fail bank

Gotta have a few pet names for spots on the three lakes....

Table Rock...

4 timbers, the gravel bar, 3rd pileon to the left, the crappie hole, the for sure spot, and I am sure there are more.. just can't think of them rightway.

Taneycomo....

Got alot I could name here, but I will only name a few.

The air conditioner, the bend, the pits, and had one called the sycamore... but last years floods kinda moved that one, have to find it again. Maybe its under Trav's dock by now :P

Bull shoals....

Flathead alley, Tin Horn, mud hole, Crappie Haven, Mocassin straight ( had an interesting encounter with the fanged kind), the deep hole

On Table Rock how about: crawdad rock, elephant rock, air condition point, foundation point. Anytime a rookie in our club caught a good fish or stringer on a certain spot, we would name it after them. Whiteys' pt., Schmidkey bluff. I put out about 100 brush piles in the early 90s' and each one of them had a name. I had so many I had to write them down with line up directions. Actually, I can remember where 90% of them are but I can't remember what I did last week. : - )

Viola area...Foxwoods, Flagpole, Where He Fell In The Lake (from my club days). 13 Area...Tornado Cove.

My favorite non-Rock places were on the Mississippi up in Iowa / Illinois...Dead Cow Cut (where most of a small bass club whacked 'em for 2 days around quite literally a dead cow), Shut Down Slough (where you had to shut down on the way in and listen for someone coming out...had 5-6' of water with a zig-zag to get in, but it was only wide enough for one boat, once past that point it opened up into a large backwater with deep water all the way back...If you didn't hear someone coming out, you pinned it and blew into the backwater on pad). Was fishing in Shut Down when another guy from my club who thought he was the only one who knew the way in, blew in and came off pad. He was beyond steamed when we told him we'd been in there for about 2 hours, absolutely priceless. Then I ran out of gas running upriver. Oh well.

Hey Mike,

I didn't realize you lived in Nixa. Gary and some of us meet for coffee sometimes. Bring your GPS coordinates!
