Whack'emGood
Saturday evening we put in at Mill Creek to practice for our upcoming first night tourney this Friday. We tried crankbaits before dark, but there is just too much moss to fish them effectively. We also threw grubs until our arms just about fell of with zero bites. We switched to the jig and started catching some. We caught alot of little males with a few decent female keepers mixed in-- then just after dark, I caught a big one- 6.83 lbs weighed on a dependable scale. She wasn't (relatively) very long, but grotesquely fat and (obviously) full of eggs. I wish I would have had my camera-- she was a beautiful fish. We also had a KY that went about 3lbs, and some decent 2.5lb fish also. Our best 5 would have went around 17-18 lbs. We didn't exactly tear them up, but that big one really helped. All fish were released unharmed. Water temps from K.C. to up past Baxter: 50-53. Depths: 5-20 ft. The color of the jig was green pumpkin. Hope this helps someone. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)

motoman
When are you coming? I think I have this week off. You fishing AIA Sunday? - We're going to be coming down thursday early afternoon, and staying through monday morning. I'll keep my eyes peeled for yah techo, and be sure to say hello. It'll be myself and an older guy on my old Basscat, haunting the Kimberling city area. (hopefully with far less smoke pouring out from under the engine cowl this time! ) - A few of us are coming down for an annual corporate tournament we're fishing Saturday, and we are considering fishing the AIA sunday. But that's a BIG if. - I've fished a few of the Heartland tournaments, and it feels like I'm stepping into the ring with Mike Tyson; going up against the locals. - Even if we don't fish the AIA, I'd like to swing by and see the weigh-in. techo
If you are catching them.....I would pitch in on the AIA Tourney. I fished a few Heartlands in the past as an AM and they put on a good tourney, but AIA is full of friendly folk. I like it as they are great fisherman, but feels like family of sorts. I love donating to E.P. and the boys. I do think the weather is supposed to change back to rain for the weekend. We will see what that does to the fish. Either way.....I hope to bump into you guys.
