Whack'emGood Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Dudes....I have been a member since 2006 and know better than to keep my bass Even if i did, and i dont...i would never open that can of worms... When i say limit, i mean a 5 bass stringer over 15 inches....that is all, heading out tonight for an hour or two and try to catch my "limit", then photo them, then release them unharmed for my wife to catch. Good fishing Sorry man... Feet in mouth for Bill and I! Good luck tonight-- I hope you catch a big "limit." My dad and I are going this evening as well, and hope to catch a big limit ourselves. Good fishing I understand where you are coming from. I always say I "got a limit" if I caught 5 "keeper" bass even when they are released. If I landed 10 "keepers" I would say I got a double limit. I understand that people may think it sounds like you are killing the fish, but I think that is just Ozark slang for getting 5 large bass. I don't keep bass during the spawn (or generally ever), but it's a free country. Prehaps we need to apply a "season" like they have in the streams on the large lakes during the spawn if there is a large problem. My gut feeling is that most guys don't keep the bass during the spawn and even if they did I would let MDC take care of fixing the rules. Have fun catching your "limit", but toss them back if you want better fishing in the future. Tight lines. Angler At Law
FRENZEL Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Dang I thought that was you.. I had the day off and took my dad fishin. Put in @ state park. My trollin batteries went south almost immediately so i only got to fish 2 good banks that I wanted to. But the first did produce a ready to pop toad of a Largemouth over 20 inches long. Had two giant Kentuckies on my second bank. Then we had to try to avoid the wind with my trolling motor out of the game. Had a few shorts after that but it was torture knowing what we could have been doing! One thing I noticed was when the wind was pushing us too fast to let the bait soak, They would follow it right to the boat. Again torture! Man, what a tough night for us last night. We fished 12 spots/areas last night and only found them on one spot. We caught 6 with 2 nice KY keepers in about 20 minutes in one area, but left it right after the second keeper because we are pre-fishing for a tourney and didn't want to mess it up. The rest of the night we flailed at 'em but ended up only catching a bunch of goggle-eyes on the jig. Dang goggle-eyes! They about drove us batty. Just when you think you get a bass bite... Oh yeah... we couldn't hit on a spinnerbait either. I guess the good news is... we left a handful of areas alone where we caught them last week, as not to mess them up before the tourney Friday night. Hopefully they will still be there Friday, but who knows. Hey Jason. Thanks for the luck wish-- we have a few fish located and all we need is to catch a really bigun or two to go with them to sqeak into the money... easier said than done though. Should be fun either way though. We launched at Mill Creek and fished from there to just below Campbell Point, with spots spread out all in-between. I sent you a PM-- maybe we can get together sometime for an evening of fishing.
