denjac Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 After about 4 -5 hours of fishing my back, ( between my shoulder blades) kills me. Feels like needeles sticking me. If I lay down and hang off the deck it fixes it for a while. Only trouble with that is one time another boater saw me lay down and thought I was croaking and came to me rescue. lol. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 27, 2009 Root Admin Posted April 27, 2009 Dr Scott Gamm http://www.extracarechiro.com/ Extremely good for fishermen! Highly recommended.
vacation Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Phil, Would a chiropractor be more of a "quick fix", then you have to keep going back until I quit fishing 50 years from now...or, in your opinion, do you think going to a chiro once would be able to "solve" solve the fishermans back pain once and for all. I have no opinion one way or the other b/c I have never gone to a chiro., just looking for opinions of people who have in this case thanks
FishinCricket Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Dr Scott Gamm http://www.extracarechiro.com/ Extremely good for fishermen! Highly recommended. Chiropractor is the best suggestion. Next would be a product called Biofreeze (it's what my chiropractor rubs me down with before cracking my back), or a herbal remedy called Tiger Balm.. Good luck, I hate back pain.. cricket.c21.com

There is a chiro doc on the forum, maybe he will respond in. Interested to know this stuff myself. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"

duckydoty Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Usually one good stomp to the left foot makes me forget all about my back pain. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Terry Beeson Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 I have pain in my lower back when I fish unless I wear my back support wading belt. I tell ya... it has turned me from a one hour and GOTTA rest fisherman to a 3 hour and NEED a rest fisherman... As for pain between your shoulders, Dr Jim Beam helps a lot... I like the personal masseause idea myself... skeeter Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 For back pain problems Chiropractic is 150% more effective than M.D.'s Most M.D.'s will write a scrip for "muscle relaxer" pills which may numb the pain and make you feel goofy but it will not attack the problem(s) causing the pain in the first place. I've been to M'D.'s and D.O.'s for back problems and an alternative to a GOOD Chiro Doc is a D.O. trained in manipulative therapy but good luck in trying to find one anymore these days. You will know if you have found a good Chiropractor if they treat the entire person and not just your symptoms. Some of the more progressive Chiropractors these days have moved away from the old "rack 'em and crack 'em " manipulation procedure and are using a computerized gizmo that "thumps" your back on each verterbrae which is much more gentle. Last I heard there is a female Chiropractor in Harrison AR using this machine but unfortunately I have lost her name.
