Members mrcold Posted May 1, 2009 Members Posted May 1, 2009 I'm just curious, have you guys tried the actual wakebaits like the Yozuri or the Mann's Waker down there? Or is it the slim profile and waggle that you think gets the attention? What is the baitfish it is intended to imitate? Strike King's sexy swimmer or wake shad seem to imitate shad fairly well, but I don't know if those match the hatch down there or not. Thanks, Brian

Thanks, Brian Have some swimbaits I intend to try in earnest next week. Played with them a bit last week, but the bite/weather were not right for them until I left. They for sure throw better than a fin. Have more action, which may not be a good thing.
SRV1990 Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Hey Bill, hope you're still checking this thread, but was curious about the smoke Chomper grub you are referring to... is it the single tail, single tail skirted or the double tail skirted variety? Also, is it just smoke clear, smoke pepper or smoke with purple flakes? I've done OK with a single tail in green pumpkin, but always looking to add something else to my arsenal... or is it the bait monkey again??? As always, thank you! Bill Babler Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 I'm usig all 5 inchers, and usually start the day with salt and pepper or a white or off-white. As I get a bit of light, I am going to the smoke, smoke pepper, motor oil or copper. The copper xps in 5 inch is kind of a go to grub, it will catch anything that swims in the rock, that eats crayfish. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
