Gary Lange Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Those having problems with the fishing reports and not catching fish should book one of the guides and take a learning session on the water. I have a friend that is a guide on Table Rock his name is Dan Boyer. He and I fished together one Monday afternoon on some new spots he wanted to try after he finished with a client. We were both using the exact same lure except we had different line on and he was catching fish and I was not. He just said Gary you haven't switched to the seaguar Floro line yet have you. Well I had not and that was my problem. I am now using it and catch fish when I get out which is not enough but that is my fault. I personally have no problem with the Guides Fishing Reports and am truly amazed that we have three guides that spend the time to post what they are doing and where they are catching fish. This is unprecedented in forums across the country and this is the only place I have ever seen it done. Those that are complaining should thank there lucky stars that they receive the information they do as it gives them a place to start. While fishing in Canada on a small lake with the brother-in-law we started catching Walleye off a point with a Yellow Jig. We would troll the point and as we came to it drop the lure back and would get bit every time. We told our friends in the other boat what we were doing and they too switched to a yellow jig they had. Only thing was it was a 3/4oz jig used mostly for Striper fishing and they were using 17lb test line on bait casting gear. They didn't catch anything because of the gear they were using for the species they were after. I guided two guys up on the Fox River for Smallmouths and they too had heavy tackle and wanted to fish big Crankbaits. I told them they needed smaller cranks and lighter tackle but they wanted to use what they had. Well when I started catching Smallmouth after Smallmouth on a Point off a creek mouth with a Buzzbait they couldn't switch fast enough. They managed a few Smallies before a Muskie moved in a chased the bass away. They had a good time and so did I. I did this for a friend who guided regular on the river and had four clients which was to many for him to handle. A guide can give you the type of area to look for and the type of lures to use but he is not going to give away his prime spots and he shouldn't. They have worked for many years finding those spots and that is what you will need to do also. I waded that river for about 10 years and learned how and where to catch Smallmouths on it from my guide friend and from other members of the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance that I belonged to then and still do today. You have to think for yourself and learn from the posts that the guides make. Keep complaining and they will quit posting reports then you'll be on your own or stuck with the old reports from years ago. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!

Gary Lange Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 My wife used to call me when I was fishing the river up North when it was raining and ask me why I wasn't coming home because it was raining. I would tell her I was standing in water anyway and I was catching Smallmouths so I didn't even notice the rain. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
bigredbirdfan Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I appreciate all the reports either way. I understand what Bill is trying to accomplish and why guides report the way they do. They are trying to be as inclusive on the entire lake as they can be. Why don't the knuckle heads that stir up all this mess just fish a few more of the suggestions and leave the keyboard be? Are people this hard up to win a weekend buddy tournament that they jump on the moderator's back when it doesn't specifically work for them? We now live in such an entitlement society it isn't even funny. The world owes me how to catch fish and when it doesn't I'll just cry and moan. There are more than enough reports and suggestions that a guy should have enough information without a specifice GPS point to go by. Wow. P.S.: Since there are sooo many of you who complain and rant, why don't you come on here and defend your behavior?
mclothier1 Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Keyboard warriors, they are quick to complain, but I bet not a one of them will get on here. Hey Bill, here's another idea... For those that PM, e-mail or call you complaining about the fishing reports.... post their username on the forums! Maybe that will make em think twice.
Terry Beeson Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I think we should have a complaint department designated for this forum. Any complaints should be addressed to that user... I have the perfect person for the job.... Her name is Helen Wate... If you have a complaint about fishing reports or accomodations.... Take them to Helen Wate... motoman Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 moto, Two words for ya: Duct Tape. head gonna explode... wrap it in duct tape. O.K. lack of sleep definately setting in......must finish this report......let's see.....fished on the right side of the boat for 12 minutes 32 seconds.......Steven was right handed..... Jamie was a lefty.......they had instant oatmeal....apple cinnamon...... - Thanks Eric, that duct tape was very effective. Any suggestions on a painless removal? - After I got some sleep too, I feel a little better.
Whack'emGood Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I would like to add my .02... for what it is worth (absolutely nothing usually )... I am in full support of Bill, Eric, Don, Philip S., Phil and all of the rest of the guides (and regular members, for that matter) that post on here. I know I surely inadvertently left a few great guides that post on here out and I apologize. I appreciate any and all (FREE!) information that is given on this forum. If I can't use it to my advantage, then that is my fault (not the guide or other member's fault). Get a grip guys... if you can't use the information to your advantage, it is nobody's fault but your own. Secondly, you are not owed or entitled to this FREE information. Get over yourself. I know you are just kidding Eric about not posting reports anymore. You have to know that you are a great asset to this site and we are lucky to have you. Keep on keepin' on... it is much appreciated. Everybody needs to stop complaining about everything. Get a life people. Don't ruin it for the rest of us. Hang in there Bill... don't take no crap from anybody. We are behind you. I'm going to fish my style and make it work for me." -KEVIN VANDAM "Confidence is the best lure in your tackle box." -GERALD SWINDLE "A-Rig? Thanks, but no thanks. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
dtrs5kprs Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Breakfast: John: two granola bars and an apple. Leslie: one granola bar and a handful of grapes (white). Only one complaint...why would you eat grapes and granola when you are in sniffing distance of Ma's? Eggs & taters, not grapes.

How am I supposed to know how that was going to affect his stamina when casting and reeling, or the smell of his or her breath which may or may not attract or detract fish. Pretty sure it was a massive oversight as Quaker Granola Bars are well known to produce breath potentially appealing to fish, whereas the Kashii ones just scare fish off. Pretty sorry excuse for detail if you ask me. Boat is on Table Rock Lake near Shell Knob, MO
