Brian Sloss Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Took a regular customer, Barry and his niece Stephanie, out in the drift boat. the fishing was good with about 30 fish landed and a number of other "quick releases". The key was being deep, as per usual. Stoneflies and Don's crawdad did really well as did a 1/16th oz white marabou jig fished under an indicator. Stephanie landed an 18.5 incher that was fat and beautiful on the jig and Barry hooked a bigger one than that, that made a run that ended with a three foot jump that broke the line upon impact with the water. It rained on us for an hour or so at the end of the day. The water this morning had come up about 5 inches and turned brown. It appears, having just gotten back from Thomasville, that the worst of the water has left the upper river. Meaning that we should crest soon. That being said, fishing should be tough until the first of the week, barring anymore big rains. It was great fun to spend the day with Barry and Stephanie. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
Members FlyfishingEngineer Posted July 31, 2009 Members Posted July 31, 2009 Heard rumor from a friend that a 15 pounder was caught last weekend fishing a mile or so below Turner's on a live minnow in deep water. Just wondering if there was any truth to it or if anyone else had heard about it.
Brian Sloss Posted July 31, 2009 Author Posted July 31, 2009 It was true. A young guy from Birch Tree caught it. Check out this link. http://www.summersvillebeacon.com/sports.php 27 inches and 14.88lbs. That is one fat fish. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497

laker67 Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Such a waste of a beautiful fish And the other response would be, Congratulations Bland! A very nice fish indeed.
steve l Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Such a waste of a beautiful fish well, I would usually say yes, what a waste. But on this one how can you blame the guy?
grizwilson Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Sorry, Congradulations, Beautiful Fish, shame you did not have a camera and get a replica made, or keep it alive to put in Bass Pro Fish Tank and get a replica made. but a Trophy to anyone, and I do not have all the story and facts so should keep quiet until I do. “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
