My son Phillip and I decided to fish the lower lake area on saturday. Turned out to be the right decision form the very first cast. We fished new water, 3 locations in all actually in the midst of all the rain (We had no rain gear.....Dad forgot to put them back in the boat) We caught quality fish on each spot, Phillip caught this 22 3/8" long beautiful SMJ on the third cast, she weighed 5.21 lbs on my digital scale. Her stomach and shoulders were huge it was by far the thickest one I have ever seen, she was an incredible fish. he also had another that was 2 oz under 4lbs fishing from the back of the boat making fun of dad of course all along the way. We caught all of our fish either on a watermellon candy twin tail grub or swimming a green pumpkin grub on 1/4 oz head. The only thing better than having a picture of a once in a lifetime fish for a 16 year old is to watch her swim away.. only to remember where she might live to try and find another day. Awesome day as always in the rain on the rock.

Wow, great fish. Did it come off the end of that dock?

Not exactly...I actually hooked a fish on the back corner of the dock and Phillip cast over me toward the bank. it was on the inside of a main lake point between 2 docks.
