Alright boys and girls let your butt cheeks loosen and give all your secrets  .

In all seriousness, there are lot of you out there that are masters at fishing gin clear water (pros and guides on Table Rock as well as other layman masters).

No need to include your presentation ... unless you want to.

What is your favorite lure for gin clear water? This could be in a river or a lake.

Depends on time of year, but in warmer months I love a 4" fluke in Arkansas Shiner or a translucent silvery-white Sammy; in winter a good quality brown hair jig and trailer. These are what I use on smaller smallmouth streams. Reservoirs a different story...

I fish the Jacks Fork quite a bit. I have always had good luck using an 1/8th oz. bottom bouncing Chompers jighead with either a 4" Chomper skirted grub or a 4" Chomper spider craw. I recently bought a Yum kit from Wal-mart that included some craw imitators with scent packs included in case I needed to downsize. Chomper baits are scented also.

1/16th ounce black and white maribou jig with a red head

(Seems to be my answer for most of these type of questions... lol)

I like the YUM craws in the 2 1/2" on a 1/16 oz. weedless jig and the 3" sizes on 1/8 oz. weedless jigs and the deep diving REBEL craw for the shallower water with my spinning rod.

For deeper water the YUM Big Show craw on a 1/4 oz. weedless jig works well, both dead drifted in faster water and jigging through the deep holes with a baitcaster.

I prefer the watermelon colors on most all of my craw baits.

If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

For Smallies and river bass:

Zara Pup, or a small buzzbait (on top)

unweighted Case Jacks worm (in between)

Slider worm (around cover or near the bottom)

As far as gin clear still water in a lake...I avoid it like the plague, and will burn some fuel to find a creek arm with some color to it.

Its got to be small plastics, opaque not solid colors. When Table Rock was a lot clearer than it is now, the line was very important and 6# was about as heavy as you could go. You might of sneaked in some 8# Sliver thread if you were lucky.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

For Ozark streams it's seasonally dependent...

mid-May to mid-Sept--probably a walk-the-dog topwater, with my home-made twin spin close behind.

mid-Sept to about Nov--Translucent colored Superfuke if the leaves are on the water, twin spin if they aren't.

Nov to really cold weather--small jerkbait like a Pointer 78 in a translucent color.

really cold weather--small brownish or olive hair jig.

end of really cold weather until about mid-April--the jerkbait.

mid-April to mid-May--the twin spin.

Honorable mention from mid-April to November--smallish buzzbait, and popper type topwater such as the G-Splash in translucent colors.

Honorable mention year-round--2.5 to 3 inch tube in brown or olive.

All great points Al,

I think line size matters...6 lb or less.

I still believe in the 5 inch chomper.

Spin lures have been well covered...on the fly rod...I like a large sneaky pete or blockhead popper on top...or a sparkleminnow in pearl or brown. Cheers.
