Weather for the derby turned out Super Bright cool and a little breezy. 78 teams launched from either Viola, or Campbell Point. Bill and I were boat No. 1.

For us the weather was just pretty tough, and kept us on the deep bite which was for the most part not to generious most of the day. All our fish but 1 came 31 to 37 ft. either suspended or on the bottom.

Of the 78 teams, I believe there were only 6, six fish limits of bass weighed in, and there were some very good locals fishing this event. You can check the official results on the Chamber website, or in the Rattler next week.

Bill and I came in 3rd. with 13.55 pounds. It is just what I have been catchin the last week, they were young and I just could not get them any bigger or older yesterday.

1st. place was 15.69, and second was 15.45. I believe big bass was a really nice Jaw at about 4 and a half. The winning team had her. We needed that fish to replace one of our K's and we would have been right there. You got to have a 4 to 6 pound kicker, or you won't wind up in the winners circle.

Most of us can catch a limit, most anytime, but getting that good-ole-goodin, is the problem. We maybe now after thinking about it, should have ran to the dam and fished Jaw's, but is was just so friggin bright, we thought we would be better off, playing with the deep K's and trying to catch some of the bigger ones. Just 15.5 inch, 2.4 pounders yesterday.

Probably had another 35 fish, with at least a dozen scratching 15 inches.

Met some wonderful new folks at the derby and lots of people that read us here on OAF.

My steak was great, and it was another fantastic day with my good buddy Bill on the water. :D

Took my son for his first tournament. We did not do so well. He caught a nice small jaw that was 17 and 3/4 in. It only went 1.95lbs..?? He was thrilled. Caught it up the Kings of all places. We took it to the weigh in a little early so he was in the lead for 25 minutes. :D

Got to meet Mr. Babler and talk to him briefly at the dinner. Bill it was a pleasure to talk to you. What a nice guy. Congrats on cashing a check!

Looking forward to doing it again next year.

"A LITTLE BREEZY" ???? LOL ! :P;) I saw boats going past the house bouncing clear out of the water trying to run across the three and four foot high rolling whitecaps. Saw a couple of lower units with propellors spinning free of the water. Thanks for the tournament results and fishing report but couldn't help but laugh out loud at your weather description. ^_^

My favorite tournament last year was the one with the hail, sleet and snow. My regular partner couldn't make it, so the wife braved the elements. She is now going to be my regular partner! Congrats on a memorable day with the kid.

Could someone fill me in on your Table Rock lingo?

What's a jaw?

What's a K?

I'm guessing one or the other is a smallmouth...I'd just like to know what the heck you were catchin'! Thanks for filling in a moron :huh1:
