ozark trout fisher Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 On an unrelated topic I'm shopping for couple of extra assult weapons cause they won't change that either. Wow.... Some of your posts are extrordinarily creepy.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 11, 2009 Root Admin Posted October 11, 2009 Well let me chime in since I posted the topic. This administration seeks to or has already "changed" this country in major ways. Thats why I posted it that way. And I'm sure they seek to conserve the country's resources. No doubt about that. Climate change here we come. But you see these massive freedom changes start somewhere and right here with "Task Forces". I believe Task means a matter needing action and force....well we all know what that means. Get ready folks. Oh wait a minute Im just crazy bc everything this administation does or wants to do is super cool. Silly me I just need to get in line a march along. So why does the president of Shiamano think this not good? Afterall if this was such a great deal for fishing you would think he would be elated to sell more stuff but he's not. Probably a right winger right? On an unrelated topic I'm shopping for couple of extra assult weapons cause they won't change that either. This is exactly the kind of post that starts/continues the partisan rhetoric here on the forum. And you wonder why we can't have a civil discussion on a political subject that's fishing related... So what do I do, Chief? Eric? Do we cut Big Red Bird Fan some slack... he's got to be reeling from the Card's lose in the series!! May be he'll apologize and delete his post. Probably not... I'll have to delete this topic too. Oh well... back to the football game.

stone9-7=2 Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 I think you (Phil) should make good on your decision to not allow any political post of any kind that you made a few months back. Lay the law down once & for all. Either allow or don't allow.

Lay the law down once & for all. Either allow or don't allow. This would be a good conversation to have if we could all stay away from partisan rhetoric, but we clearly can't so I guess I agree. The temptation is too great and it just sucks you in. It's like that last cast of the day...you just can't seem to stop.

No political posts are allowed, and this topic is most certainly political. I believe it should go.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 11, 2009 Root Admin Posted October 11, 2009 Chief? Red Bird Fan? I'm trying to be diplomatic here.
Al Agnew Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Phil, we constantly run into this on the riversmallies forum, where I'm supposed to be one of the moderators. I seldom axe anything because I like the discussions even if they stray somewhat into the political, but there are other moderators who cut people a lot less slack. The way I look at it, though, is that there is a difference between what I'd call "current affairs", and pure politics. This issue, in my opinion, falls under the "current affairs" banner if people are willing to discuss it without using it as an opportunity to cut down the current administration or any other administration or party. In other words, limit the discussion to whether or not the task force is necessary, desirable, doing the right or the wrong thing...with facts and opinions as to why you think the way you do. And not assigning purposes either nefarious, benign, or good to the politicians responsible unless they expressly state that is their purpose. And definitely not then going off on the politicians for totally unrelated things you see as bad. I try to keep in mind that arguments should be presented, and will only be won, by facts and intelligent, well thought out opinions for YOUR side, not by attacking the other side. Attacking the other side just makes them defensive and less willing to hear anything you have to say.
Chief Grey Bear Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Chief? Red Bird Fan? I'm trying to be diplomatic here. First let me say thank you for asking my opinion. I do appreciate it. Personally, I say dump all the political post. In my opinion they cause undue hard feelings against some. And do we even really know the person? Al makes a great point too. But, in reality I don't see it ever happening. I wish we could though. How may times has it been said to use facts and not conservative talking points or FOX News. Ok, well maybe FOX News wasn't really pointed out but it should be. I would also say that it seems the majority here, that do a fair amount of posting, don't want the political postings. I guess the democratic thing to do would be to post a poll. And stick to the results. I have told myself that I am not going to get in on these post anymore but, like eric, I never seem to be able to stay out. And that is my fault.
