laker67 Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 I don't think this will have any adverse affect on the browns moving up. I heard this same rumor last year. Warm water will make them vacate the upper lake.
Gatorjet Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 MDC was out all morning monitoring the DO and temp. From what I saw, water temps and DO should be ideal for fish and fishing. I DO think this will dump some shad over the dam from Table Rock. You think there will be enough shad coming into Taneycomo for the fish to get focused on white jigs and shad imitating crankbaits? Keep 'em biting for the 22nd! Real men go propless!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 10, 2009 Author Root Admin Posted October 10, 2009 Last year the water coming thru the turbines was 65. When they ran flood gates it was in the 70's. (early September before they started coming up) This year the water coming thru the turbines is 50 and 65 over the top. (mid October- alot are already up and more are on the move) BIG difference!!! You didn't hear that rumor from me. I'll stand behind my statement 100%.

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 10, 2009 Author Root Admin Posted October 10, 2009 I'll put the question to Clint and Shane and see what they say. I hope I'm right too!!
Bill Babler Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Surface temps at the dam on the Rock side are 63.3 surface temp, so I don't believe the temp will mean anything. As far as Eye's and Jaw's coming over this time, I pretty much doubt it. Lots of fish were on the dam face spawning and staging Spring before last. They are not there now. There may be some resident fish coming thru, but I will bet ya they are mostly Whites. Might be a little tough to wade fish for a while however. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
bigredbirdfan Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 How long will the fishing remain extremly good? Is a white 1/8 or 1/4 jig preferred? Im considering throwing large stick baits at brown and bows is this a good idea or not?
