I'm cheating... I'll give you my favorite in the end.

Taylor River in Taylor Canyon... I haven't fly fished below the dam at Taylor, you guys who do fly fish should though. There's some pigs in there!

Texas Creek above Taylor Reservoir. Brookies!

Hanson Creek west of Lake City, up to Engineer Pass. Takes you to Ouray.

East Fork of the Gunnison above Lake San Cristobal. Awesome fishing and scenery!

Reaching a little here, but Hinkson Creek to the east of Lake City... go over the pass and head way north. Follow the couger tracks! West of Creede.

Lake fishing? Meadow Lake north of Parachute. Catching rainbows crappie style.

Again I cheat... love fishing and eating those brookies! Lot's of place's for that out there.

Out West is my favorite for a reason...Fish eat dry flies out there....not so much here..If they wont eat dries....you move and find some that will..You can do just as well around here....but your rarely fishing on top... Cheers.

The Upper Kings River in Ca. The Cedar Grove area on its South fork is gorgeous in the fall. The Pine Flat area at the upper end is a trophy area but at the time I lived close but my skills weren't the best with a fly.

I haven't made too far out West, but I will say that the South Platte in Colorado is pretty nice, and although I really like the tailwaters around here, the North Fork of the White has always been a sweetie. If you avoid the Summer floaters, it can be very quiet, and you can catch some nice Browns on dries. Maybe it helps that the upper North Fork is one of my favorites for Smallies, too. :D

Yep -- that's a big part of things out west. Nothing more exciting than a dry fly chess match with a fish, regardless of its size.

Personally, I like to get away from the people, and size isn't the main thing. I'd rather fish for a rare native cutthroat of 12-inches than a tailwater pig. But there's a lot of things in between that work too.
