drew03cmc Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 http://www.fieldandstream.com/photos/galle...brown-trout-cau I saw this today at work and was baffled at the sheer size of this fish. Guess it didn't come from Taney afterall, but I am sure there is one larger in the Ozarks! Andy
Brian K. Shaffer Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 My heart skipped a beat. Seriously, I thought my fish got caught from below chute 3. Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
ozark trout fisher Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 My heart skipped a beat. Seriously, I thought my fish got caught from below chute 3. Brian That fish is almost as large as the one I caught at Blue Spring yesterday.
brownieman Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I been tryin to tell you guys what kinda fish rapalas produce. Kinda surprised that size fish hit such a small rapala...right spot at the right time...that's the lucky part of fishin. Then again, kinda hard for our waters compared to those large lakes to hold very many fish of that size. 6 years old...amazing. Thats what a ton of forage will do. bm My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
fishinwrench Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Awesome fish ! I've fished the Manistee 3 times and it's a hard river to figure out. Miles of dead water then you come across a stretch that is just full of fish....and looks no different from anything else. Frustrating as all get out. The people around there are kinda different too.
loo10 Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Big fish but not as pretty as the ones I see taken out of the White River system. I know it's probably a different strain but I like the orange spots many of ours have. I know it's probably a different strain but I like the orange spots many of ours have. It is a "seeforellen" brown trout. They are adapted for large and deep lakes like lake michigan. They are longer lived and grow considerably larger than german or sheepcreek browns. A 54 pounder came out of a scandinavian lake not so long ago, but the angler failed to meet IGFA standards for an all tackle world record. IMO the sheep creek brown is the most colorful and best proportioned fish.
