Lost In Branson

Me and my wife went down to Branson.I took my Rod and reel.But was completly lost it was a Mad house from the way it was when I was last there in '71.I couldn't find where to get down to the Lake and just catch a mess of Fish.We camped at the State Park.

Ok wanting a cheap but safe place to Tent Camp (have Golden Access) wanting to just fish from the bank using Power Bait or Salmon Eggs catch couple messes of Trout.We went several times down I think it was called Fall Creek Road seemed like there should be somewhere along there to get down to the Lake.

Ok take this old couple by the hand and help them out.We are more use to driving in Horse and Buggy area.

Oneshot when you come from the state park and up Fall Creek road, take the right at the sign advertising Lilley's and Cooper Creek. The first left takes you to the MDC access where there's a fishing dock. If you take a notion to bring your boat there is a ramp there also. If you take a notion to rent a river boat then Lilley's is right there also.

If you continue on up 165 there's a couple of good BBQ's and a Sonic, without hitting the madhouse section.

Almost forgot, there's a lot of White cats being caught on the north side, below Truman, down passed the last parking.

Is the State Park the best place to camp or is there a closer place to Taney?Heck I might talk Lilley into cutting a deal on room when snow flys get down for a Christmas Show.

Cats is that down by the point? I'm kind of grounded from fishing but told my wife I was leaving her at the first of the week to go hunting I might slip my Long Rod in the Pickup but looking at Long Range Forecast don't look like this rain is going to give us a break.

Yea went there on my Honeymoon with my first wife went to Silver Dollar City.That place has even changed for the worse.Me and my present wife had two day Passes One day was enough.We went on the Branson Belle instead.

I read this and laugh only because I can imagine what's going on in Oneshot's head. I remember Branson and Taneycomo well from 94-2005. I remember how much it changed in the late 90's. I remember the "flyfishing" boom in the mid-90's. The "A River Runs Through It" era I call it. I worked in the White River Fly Shop at that time, that was interesting. I was there the day Shoji Tobuchi came in and wanted to learn how to flyfish, he wanted a 5-wt.

In the late 70's there was one gas station that stayed open untill 11pm. It was at the east corner of 76 and 165. The remainder of the town was closed up by that time. From 65 hwy, across 76, it was 5 minutes to the dam. Now you can't even make the first traffic light in 5 minutes.

Yea there was a Theater in town.Sign in front said No Food or Drink Allowed in Theater.

You can fish off of the dock, its a nice one. It would be your call, but you could probably fish from your 12'

Not that I can think of. Lilley's would be a great choice. The cabins are very nice and comfortable and last time we were there the fishing off the dock was very good.

We were by the pump on the point between the old channel and the new one, fishing in the new.

I remember the early 60's. Branson cafe was the best breakfast and it had a counter, and it was in the middle of town. Silver Dollar City gave silver dollars as change. It took forever to get here no matter which road you took.
