fishinwrench Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 While digging through old photos I ran across this pic of my very first Trout. All I know is that it was somewhere on the White river. There's a building and what looks like bridge pilings in the background that might look familiar to someone. The year would have been about 1967 - 68 Does anyone have any idea where this was taken ? I'd love to know exactly where I caught my first Trout so I could visit the spot again someday. Thanks, Wrench

He just said that we went down to Ar. with Dad to pick up a new Ouchita Jon boat along the White river somewhere...and it was "coldern hell". LOL He slipped and fell in the river (without a change of clothes) shortly after the pic was taken, and had to wear a blanket all the way back home. Somebody has to recognize those bridge pilings.....no ?
laker67 Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 It looks like the Norfork bridge on 5 hwy. Just to the left of the picture should be a rr track. Years ago I can remember a building similar at the base of the bridge. But don't take that to the bank.

So if that is the spot then the photo had to of been taken from river-right, looking upsteam towards the Handicap hole. Or, on river-left upstream of the bridge and boat ramp, looking towards the confluence, right ? Who else here has been fishing since before they can even remember ? I can't even remember recieving my first fishing rod...I'm pretty sure I was just born with one. LOL That's kinda cool when you think about it. Thanks Dad ! And of couse the tradition continues..... My daughters first Bass And 10 years later...
laker67 Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 I think that the confluence is behind you. I am wrong about the rr track on the left. That would be the river road up to gene's trout dock. I am thinking now that we are looking at the tressel bridge and the hwy 5 bridge would be upstream. The rr has me confused. I cannot remember if it crosses the river. There is a rr track that runs along that side of the white up across from ranchette campground and I am thinking it crosses the norfork. I may have the details all turned around, but I am thinking you are at the confluence of the norfork and white. Dano and some of the other arkansas boys need to help us out.
Wayne SW/MO Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Hey you were a pretty good lookin' little guy, what happened? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
ozark trout fisher Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Who else here has been fishing since before they can even remember ? I do not remember catching my first fish, or receiving my first rod. But I've heard that my first fish was a little cutthroat caught in a small lake near our home in Colorado. I have fished that lake many times since, more than anything just to try to rekindle those old memories. They still escape me.
eric1978 Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 Your dad looks like a Russian Indiana Jones. You sure he didn't whip those trout out of the water?
fishinwrench Posted November 1, 2009 Author Posted November 1, 2009 Hey you were a pretty good lookin' little guy, what happened? LOL, It kinda looks like I was pouting. If it wasn't for the ol'man smiling I'd swear the pic was taken about 10 minutes post-asswhoopin'. Eric, The hat I DO remember. Dad was a big time quail hunter and worked exclusively with Pointers, that was his wing shootin' / dog stompin' cap.
