Flysmallie Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I have always known that the canopy providing shade along a river was important, but I had never thought about the significance of an adequate amount of dissolved oxygen for smallies. I will look at a stream a little differently now that I know this. It would be a fine project to test DO in some of the warm water streams. Maybe MDC or AGFC does this already. Dano How would you test the DO? Is there a simple way to do that? Now carry on with your butthole talk. And I think someone needs to drug test Cricket again.
ness Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 The colder the water, the more dissolved oxygen it's capable of holding. So, shallow, standing water would tend to have less than spring-fed moving water. See? Coldwater -- can you give me an example of a menial ant task? John
FishinCricket Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Now carry on with your butthole talk. And I think someone needs to drug test Cricket again. meh, butthole talk just ain't the same withoutcha.. And what do you mean again? That last probing visit from the aliens wasn't really a drug test in disguise, was it? (didn't know a probe was required for that?!?) cricket.c21.com
FishinCricket Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 And there is a difference in solid matter, liquid waste and………TOXIC DANGER! Man, I was with ya (even through the religious stuff) up until now.. Butnow you done gone and picked a fight with my favorite food! How could you? I thought we was friends? side story: My brother is one of your fellow "swine is toxic" activists.. He has become so averse to swine that he gets sick when he smells it cooking. Recently, while camping at a public campground, I had to calm him down when he woke the entire campsite at 4:30am. What was he doing? Giving a poor fella a cussing cause he was cooking bacon for breakfast! The entire campgroud got to hear: "I don't know how you m}*#+{}ers can stand the smell of that swine shiete! Take your f#*%ing swine to the other side of the campground or I swear I will puke all over you!" some people get a bit overzealous, ya see.. lol cricket.c21.com
eric1978 Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 That diagram shows a "vent", not an "anus".. I stand by my statement.. So an owl's stomach must be like an attic fan or something? I think "vent" is their nice way of saying poopshooter. And there is a difference in solid matter, liquid waste and………TOXIC DANGER! Toxins stay in the body! Better axe somebody! LOL Yeah, but bacon tastes good. Pork chops taste good. (Travolta...Pulp Fiction...nevermind) Yes, pigs are filthy animals and they may not sweat, but we've been eating them for thousands of years and if it weren't for our horrible farming practices there would be absolutely nothing wrong with eating them. I'm more worried about eating what we put into them than eating what they're made of. We put the same garbage in other livestock, too, so don't go thinking your porterhouse is like healthfood or something. Until you eat only organic food, you've got just as much to worry about as pork-eaters. And if you think McDonald's is any less toxic than a pork loin, you should have your head examined.
Wayne SW/MO Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Yes, pigs are filthy animals No they are kept in filthy conditions at times. Chickens and pigs are kept somewhat free of things like anti biotic's, or at least they were. Cattle on the other hand aren't. Both were fed leftover parts, but I believe much of that has passed also. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Cattle on the other hand aren't. Both were fed leftover parts, but I believe much of that has passed also. You're right Wayne, I don't believe they are as filthy as we make them. I recently saw a documentary about a hog farm. The camera was hidden and the documentarian was "undercover." Every hog there was routinely injected with antibiotics and some other stuff I can't recall exactly, I think it was steroids or hormones. They were beaten and brutalized and confined and tortured. "Unhealthy" piglets were swung by their feet and their heads were smacked on a concrete wall to kill them "economically." They even had footage of a lame hog being hung to death, hoisted up by a frontloader. The owner of that hog farm was prosecuted for cruelty to animals, but the judge was having none of it and he was given a small fine and a slap on the wrist for some trivial offense. It was small-town cronyism at its worst and it's the reason we have toxic food and why it's not getting any better. Is it enough to keep me from eating pork, or store-bought meat in general? Nope, but it probably should be.
FishinCricket Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 So an owl's stomach must be like an attic fan or something? I think "vent" is their nice way of saying poopshooter. meh, your prolly right.. I retract my former statement. Owls (and pigs) have buttholes, though I have never personally verified that.. cricket.c21.com
