Chief Grey Bear Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Seems like with today's technology, law enforcement could easily log this information on gps's instead of having to find it posted physically on a dock. I agree with this. Using the the current method will allow/force (whichever you like) the expense to be borne by the property owner instead of the government. But I'm sure there's more to it. Why should tax payers have to pay to put an address number on the dock? Should the tax payer pay for all the address numbers on every home and bussiness in the US too? techo Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I used to be a Firefighter Engineer (drove big red truck) in a pretty rural area prior to current vocation. All drivers say the same little prayer on the way to a fire....please let it be well marked or have lots of smoke and tall flames so I can find it! Tim Carpenter
Martin Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Chief GB.....The dock owners have to foot the bill for the dock address signs. I had to pay 2/12th's of the cost of our sign. (2 slips in a 12 slip dock). The total bill for a "professionally made sign" was about 40.00. So my part was less then 7 bucks.
Chief Grey Bear Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 So you have to have a special sign? Or you chose to have a fancy sign made? All I saw was basically the same rules for the numbers on your house. But then again all I read was what Phil posted, I haven't clicked the link yet. Martin Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 No, the powers that be has specific sign requirements / letter size / yada, yada, yada.... I wanted to make a sign. It would have been very easy, but my spineless neighbors out voted me and wanted an "official" sign. As you would expect, several "sign companies" popped out of nowhere to make those oh-so hard-to figure-out signs.....lol..... Oh well, 6 bucks and change and I'm in with the in-crowd again. lol.....
Chief Grey Bear Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Oooppps. I didn't read that right the first time. My brain was not reading the same thing my eyes were. I see what you are saying now. Sorry about that. But still...... As much as I hear what the slips are going for down there, the $7 should have been waived.
