motoman Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I saw that the other day denjac. Like you said, some will be happy; some not so. - I was thinking of coming down for those few days to see how those guys get things done. (as a spectator boat and watch the weigh-ins) - Anybody who haas been a spectator before at one of these larger events; what were your impressions? - (I'd just like to see the big boys catch 'em )
techo Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I went to the weigh in one day and was on the lake trying to fish one day. The weigh in was kind of fun. They had a few booths set up and a lot of people! I bumped into quite a few of us locals there. The lake was a bit more challenging to fish with a few extra boats out there. I was fishing after the cut ( I think) so most of the boats were observers or fans. Everyone was courteous though. Doesn't hurt my feelings to have them here. Let me know when you come down....maybe we can hook up (so to speak). Tim Carpenter
getfished Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Denjac, thanks for the info. I don't keep up with FLW much myself. I used to keep informed about BASS but no so much anymore. I notice FLW is calling the Forrest Wood Cup the "world championship of bass fishing." Interesting, I thought BASS had claim to that title? GETFISHED !!! http://www.tacklespecialty.com/

I did hear the weigh-ins and other booths/activities are pretty cool. - I'll definitely shout at yah if I come down techo. I'm already bummed about the colder months ahead. Sometimes they take forever to make way for spring.

The FLW talks like they're the best-- but there aint a bigger tourney than the Bassmasters Classic. Everybody knows that... some are just in denial. Whack'em "Success builds confidence, and you have to learn to trust your instincts and forget about fishing the way a tournament is supposed to be won. I'm going to fish my style and make it work for me." -KEVIN VANDAM "Confidence is the best lure in your tackle box." -GERALD SWINDLE "A-Rig? Thanks, but no thanks. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
Sam Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Best times to stay OFF Tablerock: Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day weekends when the party boats are going nuts, AND anytime one of these big tournaments comes. At those times I figure they can have the lake, have their fun, then go home- and the day after, things are back to normal. In the meantime, there's always Bull Shoals.
Quillback Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I'm a little surprised at the dates this is being held on TR, March 4-6, seems like there's a good possibility it will be a mite chilly out there. It will be interesting to see what the winning strategy will be.
