Forsythian Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Forsythian... What's up with the avatar!!!??? Lake levels down there on Bull Shoals got you down?? :) HA! Yeah, I'll say... the lake levels AND the river levels have combined to relegate me to the couch... I figure by next spring I'll resemble the guy in the avatar. A couple of James River gigging trips and a NFOW or 11PT float will get me right again I hope. Cenosillicaphobiac
fishinwrench Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I used to go as far as to take a yellow paint marker and highlight the main points of the then new regualtion signs. Rain would always wash it off. I did it like 6 times. Wayne SW/MO mentioned that we may not realize the agents are watching when they are. Very true. But it you fish down there more than the agents watch - you are going to run into a ton of violations. I have just decided to accept that as a fact that I can do little about. And believe - I have called on them quite a bit. Sometimes they are just not available. Brian Holy crap Brian, do you have time to fish yourself with all that vigilante work ? Am I the only one here that thinks it is a bit on the Creepy side to be watched and monitored while I'm fishing. Taney is beginning to sound like ....fishin' on the chain-gang. "Did that guy just trip over a rock...or is he SHUFFLING" ? "Is that tungsten putty he has....or is it POWERBAIT" ? Better take his picture and run his plates just in case. To read this it sounds like several of you guys spend as much time worrying about what other fishermen are doing, than you do fishing. I hope I'm wrong, cuz that's not healthy.
Members fishbobber Posted November 17, 2009 Members Posted November 17, 2009 Maybe we should go back to pre- 1997 give everyone a shot at the upper end of the lake. Raise the limit back to 5 and everyone be happy!

Your comments are a bit over the top. Since when is the efforts of anglers trying to protect our fisheries in accordance to the game laws seen as extreme? No one is talking about watching people from the bushes... Brian talked about high-liting the rules on the posters.

Raise the limit back to 5 and everyone be happy! Why not change the restricted area back? Simply because the restricted area has worked... for everyone. Anyone can go up to the trophy area and catch nice rainbows using the same techniques they would below the line - just change your soft plastic bait to a fly. No additional gear or talent in needed. As far as the 5 rainbow limit, that is debatable. They changed the number and the average size of trout which could be argued from now till eternity if that was right or now. That's a personal preference thing.

I'm just speaking my mind Dude.....and the last time I checked I was among friends, where I could do that from time to time (within reason). I love this board and I add helpful info to it every chance I get. So why do you have to be on PC patrol all the time ? We are a bunch of fishermen....talking to other fishermen. If I piss Brian off we'll work it out, don't worry. If you cut off all additions of humor, controversy, and character of the threads and posts here (like it seems you intend to do) this will be the most boring place on the web. IMO Are we all just supposed to say nice things all the time, and never utter a word of opposition when things hit a nerve ? I find being eyeballed constantly by a bunch of Gladys Cravits an annoyance....that was my only point. But hey it is YOUR time, and YOUR taneycomo, so carry on as you wish.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I didnt think your comments were worthy of my response wrench, sorry. Kinda figured you were talking ' out of your butt ' as they say. Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 17, 2009 Root Admin Posted November 17, 2009 I said a "bit" over the top.
Thom Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I for one do not care if anyone is looking over my sholder in the restricted zone or elsewhere. The rules were made for a reason and having fished Taneycome for 35+ years I clearly see why they are what they are. Hide in the bushes, use a satellite, swim underwater I don't give a hoot cause I will be catching and releasing mostly and keeping a few for the grill or fry pan. I will abide by the law doing so and enjoy the great asset of Taney while I do leaving nothing there but my footprints and future habitat for my grandchildren and yours. Frankly I am glad that there is someone watching besides the Wardens cause no one should really care unless they have something to hide. Having met Brian a few times on the stream I know him as a gentileman who respects the great fishery we have been blessed with and have never seen him harass anyone. Informing someone that they are abusing the fishery and breaking the law should be a virtue not a vice. Thanks Brian , Phil, Bill and others who feel the same. That is my opinion wrench so give me and them the same respect that you want to have for yours without demeaning comments toward them. OK! target firmly attached to my back fire away. Thom Harvengt
fishinwrench Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 OK! target firmly attached to my back fire away. I don't care to fire on ya. I just felt like responding with my perspective. no one should really care unless they have something to hide. Ahh, the old Nazi reasoning cliche, ok. You win.
